Went there just to try it and see how it works. Brought records, told the checkin guy we needed 2 vaccines, and I said the names of them as I pointed to them on the record. They take your pet several feet away, and you have to wait behind a line until the Vets are done. We get home, I look at the visit summary, and see our dog got a WRONG VACCINATION. He already had the vaccination they gave him. Now he got a double dose. The vet tech claims I agreed to the shot but I did not. Had I heard the word Bordetella I would not have agreed. This operation runs pets through in a hurry, not being sure of services desired, or needed. Are they trying to get more money out of people??? Vetco refused to take responsibility of their error. We will not be returning. I work in the pet field also, and will be warning others of Vetco.

Confusing policy + poor explanation: “1 minute late” changed 3-year vs 1-year rabies I booked a Vetco rabies appointment at Petco and followed the text instructions to check in by texting “3” when I arrived. My appointment time was 4:45 PM and I checked in at 4:46 PM. When I went inside, I was told my dog could not receive a 3-year rabies “because I was late,” and they would only do a 1-year. That explanation doesn’t make sense. The shot takes the same amount of time, and the texts never stated that being a minute late would change vaccine duration. If there’s a real rule (for example: 3-year requires a continuous rabies history, proof on-site, or the dog being current/not overdue), then that should be clearly communicated and explained accurately, not blamed on being “late by a minute.” This felt like a policy/record/eligibility issue that staff didn’t explain correctly, and it wasted time and trust. If your clinic has strict rules, please put them in the reminder texts/confirmation and train staff to explain the actual reason (eligibility/records/overdue status) instead of giving a timing excuse.

I wasn't allowed to walk my dog to your exam area so she was afraid of the dark scrubs and the masks, so she had to be pulled in and pushed, and that hasn't happened before. I asked if I couldn't walk her into the Vet and was told no, for safety purposes. She was fine up until that experience then as soon as she was done walked all over the store greeting people and their dogs, so she wasn't dangerous, she was just afraid of the Vet and techs appearances. I was about ready to just go get the vaccines myself at a local store and administer them myself. Next time will be at her Vet's office, where she does fine, just was short notice.
