They won't let you cancel your subscription if your pet dies! You will keep getting a monthly charge to remind you of of your painful loss. Do they need to? No. Do they care? No. Straight up evil.
After 9 great years I had to put my cat down earlier this month; she was the sweetest cat I'd ever owned. Obviously I was heartbroken. The staff at Banfield were wonderful throughout the death process. This 1 star review is for the corporate ownership who clearly only care about the bottom line and not a grieving pet owner. I had been on the Wellness + plan for years as my cat needed occasional dental work, which just renewed in November. When I contacted Banfield to cancel the policy after my cat died, they told me I needed to pay the remaining 9 months of the Wellness Plan, despite the fact that my cat is no longer alive to be seen and treated. I was flabbergasted - their reasoning was because I had used the plan benefits (procedure discounts, office visits) for 3 months, so I needed to pay the full plan amount. I obviously wouldn't have signed up for the full year if I knew my cat was going to die so soon. To top it off, my cat was too sick to receive any dental care so I never used the "Plus" part of my plan. I asked if they would at least lower the regular Wellness plan but apparently their "system doesn't allow that". I feel taken advantage of in a time of grief. When your pet dies, it feels evil to keep charging grieving owners for services they obviously won't be using. Now I'll get a painful reminder of my loss every month when I see the monthly Wellness charge hit my credit card. I understand this is a business and cancelling a plan would normally require paying the full year, but the death of a pet feels like this should be an obvious exception. I'm leaving my multi-year experience with Banfield with a very sour taste and I do not recommend anyone give their money to this company; it's clear they will do anything they can to suck more money from you before you go.

I normally have decent visits with my local Banfield in Silverdale, WA, but a fairly new vet just didn't sit well with me. Dr Sluys showed obvious fear when I brought in my rotterman. He's very astute and caught on to that fear, resulting in him being a bit more aggressive in her presence. (He is fine with the other vets). I had asked for her not to see that particular dog. I had other dogs that I brought in and she always seemed "meh" with them, quite unlike the other vets that spend time to learn about the pets being seen.
Less than two weeks ago, I had to bring in one of my last dogs (#4 of 5) to be put down. When I learned it was to be Dr Sluys, I was VERY hesitant, but she was the only one that had time to do it so we didn't need to wait another day. Mind you, I've already been present when my three previous dogs had to be put down. I was used to the drill...take as much time as we need to say goodbyes, comfort the dog, the dog gets taken away to put the IV in (we opted to move this old dog as little as possible so they prepped him in the room with us). With the previous dogs, a sedative was pushed through to allow the dog to slowly fall asleep (usually a minute or so) before pushing the final drug. I was holding my small dog as she pushed the sedative and I watched as he yawned, and then I noticed his eyes immediately changed and his tongue dangled from his mouth. I looked over and saw that Dr Sluys was pulling the needle out of the IV. I questioned "Did you immediately push the euthanasia drug?" and she simply replied "yes." There was no time for us to hold him as he fell asleep for the last time in our arms. She robbed him of that and immediately went from sedative to euthanasia. I was absolutely mortified. I am so happy that I will NEVER have to deal with her again as I asked it to be put in our dogs charts to NOT let her see them.

The staff here is wonderful. They are super nice funny, and care so much about every pet that walks through. They have monthly payment plans that are pretty affordable and covers about 90% of everything my puppy has needed. They are very accommodating when can be.

I had an appointment scheduled and they called and I was unable to respond, when I called back I suggested they text these messages to avoid concern and the person who answered the phone was extremely rude about this and insisted this technology was impossible. It isn't, but also really unnecessarily rude about this.
