As soon as we walked in, an assistant manager named Denise stopped us in a very command-like tone and told us we had to lock up all of our bags before we could shop. There were no posted signs about this policy, and at the time there were no other customers in the store, so it was hard to understand why this was necessary. She then brought us to what she called a “locker,” but it was actually a rescue pickup cabinet with cat food inside, not a proper or secure storage space. This felt unprofessional and awkward, especially since I’ve shopped at many Petco locations and have never encountered anything like this. If there is a bag policy, it should be clearly communicated, applied consistently, and use proper storage. The way this was handled felt abrupt and uncomfortable, and it left a very negative first impression.
