Absolutely not. I literally adopted the puppy from an adoption event at this store, and as a puppy, she was turned away within 30 seconds for “trying to bite” three times. The groomer, who was wearing a N95 mask, immediately and quickly approached my dog as we walked in for grooming. My dog was showing clear signs of feeling nervous and backing away, and she reached down to pet her anyway. I even told her as she quickly approached that my dog, who has been raised by me since she was tiny and knows nothing but love and safety, is still nervous around new people for a minute. “She may not be feeling it today.” I let my dog wander around the space on leash for maybe 20 seconds before she attempted to approach her again and my dog backed down and growled as the groomer quickly shoved her hand in my dog’s face. Then the groomer demanded that I leave and she would wave me back in if my dog didn’t want to stay. Within 5 seconds, with me watching, I was waved back in and told that they couldn’t take her. My dog never once approached the gal and tried to bite. She was approached by the groomer quickly every time. She, on leash, was in fact, walking away from the groomer and toward the window. The groomer made NO effort to create a calm environment and then accused my dog of trying to bite three times when she was nipping due to being very quickly forced to adjust or go. No effort to give a treat. No effort to build actual rapport that would be suitable for a nervous puppy. Nothing. She simply gave me tips to make her more comfortable (such as treats…? which weren’t offered) and told me to find another option. I pay this company a ridiculous amount of money every month just in subscriptions to their canine and reptile savings packages. And likely $1,000 plus a month in food, litter and bugs for my pets every month. We are in this store so often that the cashiers regularly ask about "that puppy you adopted here" even when she isn't with me. My dog has *never* bitten a person in aggression, ever. She’s been groomed twice by someone else with no problem in her short 11-months of life. And she attends daycare with a variety of humans and dogs daily, and I have never been given any negative reports. I am *shocked* by how she was treated like a drunk young adult who knows better instead of a pet who needed to adjust to a very scary environment with a human who appears to be missing half her face due to a mask. When I inquired about how she was supposed to adjust to the space without an effort to appropriately do so, I was told that “we aren’t supposed to take pets if they try to bite at all.” Which, valid. If my dog had come in and the groomer had sat on the floor with a treat and slowly warmed up and my dog pursued her with an aggressive bite, I would have profusely apologized and left. The whole interaction was less than one minute. She decided when we walked in and she quickly approached that my dog wouldn't be staying, and she didn't. I’ve been a loyal Petco patron for years for my 8 pets. Petsmart, here I come.

We were dismayed to find out that Flora could not be groomed at Petco since she has a mild murmur. We arrived for our appointment and had to wait almost 30 minutes while a situation with a nervous dog was resolved. Then we were asked if Flora had heart murmur which she does. Petco phoned our vet to find out the severity of heart murmur, value 1.6. (Apparently the Petco policy rules out any dog as a client if it's murmur value is greater than 2. This did not apply to Flora!) We are disappointed. Please attach a notice to your website informing your clients of this policy. Thank you, Elizabeth Miller

We've been taking our little dog to be groomed by Rex at Interbay, for a year... Her work is consistently Great. But that's not why we go... Rex is Amazing with the care of our Pup. And it's so important! We know she's in good hands when we leave, and That peace of mind is everything!
