Nikki was wonderful. We brought our two rescue dogs (with previous trauma), to her for very different needs. Niki took the time to explain why the training techniques work and how to incorporate them into our lives at home. She tailored her recommendations to the specific dog and was patient, kind, and extremely helpful. We are already seeing improvements in their behavior.

We dropped both our dogs off today (3/4) for a bathing and light grooming. The grooming was to be a face trim, sanitary trim and pads of feet. That’s all. After a couple of hours we got a call that they had to transport one of our dogs to the animal hospital. They did NOT notify us before or when they made the decision to transport or dog. We were frantic! The dog (Bijan) that was injured was just 9 months old. Then when we asked to specify the injury they refused to answer ANY of our questions about what happened, the condition of Bijan or why they transported our dog without our permission. I was beside myself and yelling and begging for them to PLEASE tell me what happened. She said she couldn’t talk to me because I was yelling and I needed to talk to the vet. I am horrified at the monstrous behavior to tell pet owners that one of their beloved babies (a puppy) was injured by them and then refuse to tell us ANYTHING about what happened. My husband and I imagined for about an 1.5 hours all of the most horrific possibilities. A serious cut, an eye injury, a broken leg. I was in tears driving to the vet hospital as I imagined how scared our Bijan must have been. My husband reminded me that they said it wasn’t life threatening. It didn’t matter. Life threatening can be any number of serious injured. How hard was it would have been to tell us what happened.
They nicked Bijan while grooming him and sent him to the hospital. He required a stitch. The 1.5 hour nightmare of catastrophizing we experienced could have been avoided had they just explained what happened when we asked.
Petco’s policy regarding what they are willing to communicate when a pet is injured by them during a grooming is monstrous, horrific and cruel.
NEVER take your pet to PETCO for grooming.
