  Melanie rung me out today and had the most nasty attitude not just with me but also with my sister who is also a paying customer. She was so upset being lazy as hell & not even bagging my item, disregarded my question about using my points then walked away while I’m still waiting for my bag. No one is here to argue with you or give you a hard time Im a paying customer & you get payed to ring out my items don’t be rude to customers cause you hate your job. I hope management can go over Simple manners with this employee. Imagine grieving a pet loss & someone being mean to you for no reason.

  Clearance prices are just as much as regular price and the smell of the federal way store is terrible..but I usually find what im looking for. Just seems like they need a deep clean and a manager that cares.

  They treat their betta fish horribly. I’ve gone in twice in the last week to rescue a betta and every time the bowls have multiple dead fish. I told the ladies at check out and they looked at each other and one went “you’re up…” and the other was annoyed and went to apparently put them in a freezer?? I’m not saying not to rescue a betta because they really need to be saved - but please buy your fish equipment from Midway or another small business until they change their practices!!

  I’m writing this review specifically about Petco’s treatment and sale of betta fish. As someone who has kept bettas for years and understands their care requirements, I have serious concerns about the conditions I consistently see in-store. Bettas are intelligent, interactive fish that require warm, clean, filtered water and adequate space. Unfortunately, the bettas at Petco are typically kept in tiny plastic cups with only a few inches of water, conditions that fall far short of what this species needs to stay healthy. Many fish show signs of stress or illness. What makes this especially troubling is that Petco’s own care guidelines acknowledge that bettas need heated water, stable temperatures, and proper tank setups. Yet the way they are housed in-store contradicts that information. Bettas are presented more like merchandise than living animals with specific welfare needs. I would love to see Petco take meaningful steps toward improving how these fish are transported, housed, and cared for or reconsider selling them entirely until humane standards can be met consistently. The images below are of two bettas (Stars and Stripes and Delta Tail) that I purchased about 10 days ago in order to give them some comfort in warm, dim tanks their final hours. The bottom images are what Petco advertises for those varities. You can do better, Petco.
