I am leaving this review to document a serious and repeated breakdown in how this clinic handles client trust, personal information, and accountability.
Immediately after a routine appointment, I began receiving unsolicited marketing emails and text messages from Trupanion that were clearly connected to my visit. At no point did I provide explicit consent for my personal contact information to be shared for marketing purposes, nor was I asked whether I wanted my information entered into any third-party insurance system.
According to Trupanion’s own publicly stated process, veterinary clinics are expected to obtain client consent before submitting patient information into their system. That did not happen here. Instead, my information appears to have been entered automatically without my knowledge or authorization.
When I contacted the clinic, I was told the outreach was triggered automatically through their system. That explanation did not resolve the issue — it raised a more serious concern that client information may be shared by default rather than by informed choice.
This was not an isolated experience. I have previously raised concerns with this clinic — including through their daycare program — about communication and follow-through. After bringing this most recent issue to their attention, I received a voicemail acknowledging the situation and stating that compensation would be provided. However, when I followed up, that compensation was never honored. The failure to follow through on what was communicated only reinforced my concerns about reliability and oversight.
Taken together, these experiences suggest a broader pattern of process failures rather than one-off mistakes. While the marketing communications eventually stopped after I raised concerns, the underlying issue — the handling of client information without consent and the lack of accountability afterward — remains deeply troubling.
Trust is foundational in any medical setting. When consent is bypassed and follow-through is inconsistent, that trust is compromised. Because of this, I chose to move my business elsewhere. I strongly encourage other clients to ask direct questions about how their personal information is handled, whether consent is obtained before sharing data with third parties, and how concerns are documented and resolved.

I am extremely frustrated with my experience trying to renew my dog’s medication through Chuckanut.
About a month ago, I contacted the clinic to renew my dog’s prescription with Chewy. No one completed the renewal, and I was never notified there was an issue. The only way I found out anything was wrong was when Chewy sent me an auto-renewal decline notice weeks later.
I called Chuckanut again and was told the prescription would be sent. Instead, Chewy received a different prescription than what my dog has been taking successfully for the past year—without anyone informing me of a medication change. Chewy was the one who questioned the change and alerted me, not the clinic.
I then went into Chuckanut in person and showed them the prescription my dog has been on for over a year. I was told the corrected prescription would be sent to Chewy. That never happened, and once again I received a decline notice from Chewy.
At no point during this entire process did anyone from Chuckanut contact me to explain what was going on. Every update came from Chewy, and I had to repeatedly call the clinic after each decline just to find out what happened.
When I finally spoke to someone, I was told the renewal wasn’t completed because they “couldn’t find my Chewy account,” and this was somehow being blamed on me. Chuckanut has all of my contact information, yet no one reached out to say there was an issue or that they needed additional information to find my account.
I was also told that the medication my dog has been doing very well on for the past year was “not what they meant to prescribe” and that it should be changed. The idea that a dog’s heart medication could be changed without communication or consideration of how well he’s been doing is deeply concerning.
This is my dog of almost 10 years, and as of today I still do not have his prescription renewed. The fact that a routine medication renewal has turned into weeks of confusion, silence, and missed follow-through is unacceptable. Even more troubling is the idea that decisions about my dog’s heart medication—and ultimately his quality of life—could be made based on a piece of paper, without communication, context, or consideration of how well he has been doing on his current medication. That is a terrible way to treat a long-term patient and an incredibly stressful experience for a pet owner.

Dr. Ruark was so kind and gentle. I had a wonderful experience. Everybody who helped me was just really nice. The doctor was really informative and helpful. She answered all of my questions and was really patient and nice to Cleo even though she was really nervous. I couldn’t have had a better veterinary experience.

I boarded a dog for 2 days. I believe she was taken care of as I asked. The two staff members I met were great and suggested she might be partly rat terrier which is a new, fitting idea for this wild woman dog.
