At 802 K9 Training, we understand that dogs are genetically pre-programmed by nature. We individually evaluate those genetic drives and work with them to bring out the best in your dog.
I’ve always been strongly against “shock” collars. I have a two-year-old standard poodle who behaved like she’s half sled dog and half kangaroo. I took her to many positive-reinforcement classes and consistently did the work at home, but she still insisted on pulling and bouncing her way through life. Walks were becoming frustrating, and her reactivity to some dogs, people, cars, and all of the squirrels only added to the challenge.
I eventually started doing some research, which led me to learn about e-collar training and become more open-minded about it. After sharing my frustrations, someone referred me to Katie, who just happened to train with e-collars—no coincidences in life! I was definitely nervous—Katie can probably attest to that! But I decided to trust her and trust the process, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Now our walks are actually enjoyable. I’m more confident, and my dog is more confident too.

802 K9 is amazing. We fostered and then adopted a rescue dog - she was a bit of a runner and was aggressive on the leash, especially around other people's dogs. Katie quickly diagnosed the issues and helped us to build trust with our dog using play and treats (which we continue to maintain). In a surprising amount of time we had a dog who went from running off to walking and hiking with us off-leash, able to focus on us instead of all the previous triggers. During training sessions we almost immediately saw the pulling, leash aggression, scent drive, and prey drive diminish and even disappear with the techniques we learned as we walked through previously impossible to imagine situations with very few challenges, if any. We still use the techniques to maintain desired behaviors with positive reinforcement. Thank you for helping our rescue dog to become part of our family and to go almost everywhere we go!

Our black lab mix, Pepper, absolutely loves Kate and so do we! Kate has taught us how to be better dog owners and has taught our girl how to be the best dog we could imagine. We worked through leash reactivity as well as off-leash recall with Kate, and now our girl loves to go on hikes both with and without the leash. No more barking at other dogs or not coming when we call her, Pepper now fully listens to us. Plus she goes back to see Kate every week for some wonderful adventure time with her group of buddies, coming home to us nice and tired. Thank you Kate for showing us all of the potential our dog had!

Kate was incredible with our 90 lb Rottweiler/Akita/German Shepherd mix. Our dog has had leash aggression, but after an hr and a half session he was literally a different dog. Some trainers in the area are just looking to scare you into thinking your dog is Cujo. Kate diagnosed the issue and had a solution. We’re looking forward to being able to walk our dog in peace! Thanks !
