We usually go to our dog’s primary care located at the Banfield on Virginia Beach Blvd however they were closed due to the possibility of inclement weather so we decided to try this one. Our dog had a bloody mouth and what appeared to be a loose and/or cracked tooth that she would not leave alone. We arrived around 11am and were told we could not be seen at all today even though the website showed 6 openings for an appointment today. The lady at the front desk seemed to not care and was not much help. Luckily Furgent Care was super caring and helpful and able to squeeze us in for an emergency tooth extraction today. I understand the possibility of there being no openings available however the website should match what is being said in person and also a little compassion and care especially in this field of work could go a long way.

We took our cat here on Friday because of him throwing up undigested kibble. They recommended a X-ray, which of course we did just to be safe. The X-ray comes back and the vet bar for bar told me “time is of the essence” and he needed to “go to the emergency vet right away” and “whatever is in his intestine could rip through and kill him” … yeah. we took him to an emergency vet where they did a ultrasound. nothing was there. and we were told “they probably said something was because of how they took the X-ray his intestines look bunched.. but even then I don’t know why they said that to you”.. so. yeah. We ended up spending $3000 in total to be told he has a food allergy and to switch his diet. Maybe next time you tell a pet owner that their animal could die at legitimately any moment… be 100%. This place is no good if there’s an actual problem with your animal. Not the first time I’ve had a poor experience. My cat also got ring worm from a different location. Also have been told when my cat had a respiratory infection “they can’t give medicine without a X-ray”… and then another location gave us medicine. ALSO have been told by an assistant/tech that “most of the vets don’t care and just try to get you to spend extra money”. My cats are both on the plans, and I can not wait to finish out the year, get them off and go to a different vet. These clinics aren’t good beyond shots & exams. Basically, if your animal has a REAL problem you’re going to be told to go to a emergency clinic so maybe find a different vet that just does more. And won’t tell you that your cat is near death and critical … when they don’t even know.

Just dropped my dog off for his last visit with the coverage we had through Banfield .had a very hard time getting him checked in at the front desk, although the appointment had already been made. Once there was any confusion about what was going on the front desk, person attitude came out before I was eventually put into a room. Shortly afterwards, Stephanie, who I am assuming is the “vet” came in to get my dog . Didn’t ask me about how my dog was doing or if there’s any updates or concerns. Didn’t even look at my dog when she entered the room .Didn’t look at me when she spoke to me. Took my dog out without telling me what her name was. I had to ask. This was the absolute worst service I’ve ever had in relation to pet services. I was already planning on not renewing with Banfield because it is a waste of money for the services and care Your dogs actually get but today was mind blowing. This is the first negative review I’ve made on Google. Banfield At independence is horrible service. Stephanie was rude And I hope is held accountable. Front desk not much better .. Do not trust your dogs with these people. Absolutely pathetic I will be telling every other pet owner I know to avoid at all cost

Dr. Gibbs and the entire team at Banfield Haygood are incredible. When my cat was diagnosed with diabetes, I was so scared, but they have been kind, compassionate, and informative throughout this entire process. I won't take him anywhere else.
