The ladies at the front desk are amazing: very personable, friendly, empathetic, and sweet and gives me the relief that my dog is in loving hands. My dog gets very anxious going to the doctors but Hope Oncology is the first time I've seen him less anxious. The only issue is the extremely old card machine not working that causes me to have to double check If i was charged twice. The computer system also seems to be really slow where the ladies have to compensate for the system's behalf and although the ladies are extremely patient which I appreciate, the machine's out of their control and can get in the way of checking out smoothly which I feel is crucial for an oncology hospital that can be very heavy to deal with for patients. Please get them a new card machine. Dr. McNeill is also very good. I did wish he was able to talk to me especially because this past appointment would determine on when to start his chemotherapy, however, I ended up not being available during the time they called me which i first communicated that I was going to be available and he is very busy which I understand.

First, I was shocked to read some bad reviews. I can only guess that they are for the ER, which I did not use at all. My dog Bear is 12 years old. Back in Feb, a vet in Strasburg, Va told us based on X-rays & a brief ultrasound they took, they thought Bear had an aggressive form of cancer. We were absolutely devastated to say the least. We reached out to the Hope Center. Within 3 days Bear was seen by Dr.McNeill. After some expensive but necessary testing, DrMcNeill called us (we were nearby waiting) to tell us there were no signs of cancer at all! Every single person at the center from the Doctor, to the receptionist to the vet techs, were all incredible, kind, caring, and amazing with Bear. He isn’t an easy patient being 80lbs & not liking the vets office. But the staff treated him so well & Bear was so responsive to their clearly sincere, caring nature. It was the best veterinary care he has received in his 12 years and I wish all vet offices were like them. Forever grateful!

Took my best friend Snowball here to Hope Advanced Veterinary Clinic for an optometrist appt, and wow, what a difference! The staff are super knowledgeable and gentle with my dog, and we managed to successfully do the exam. Sometimes my dog can be a bit jumpy lol. Valerie was super amazing handling my dog & assisting dr atkins. They explained everything clearly, from the diagnosis to treatment options, no rushing me. The staff's friendly vibe made the whole experience less stressful for both of us. Highly recommend if your pet needs an eye specialist! Dr Adkins is super smart, helpful, & patient. Dr Kate Keenen is also great, & I think she’s interning which is cool. Also, the ladies that helped me at the front desk are always super easy to schedule with. As an update, I brought Snowball for a follow-up today. Dr Pak who’s a cardio specialist (I couldn’t find how to spell it but she’s in the pics) was awesome, and Sarah was fantastic too! They both work well together & they did the first part of the follow-up, and Dr Adkins came in afterward and did the full diagnosis & insight. She’s truly kind & patient. I recommend this place for anyone looking for a specialist for their dog, especially for optometry & cardiology. Daniel

The doctors and the support team in the ophthalmology department are amazing. I appreciate their thoroughness and knowledge. Over the years I have seen Dr. Adkins for eye problems in three different cats and she’s always helped us a lot. On another note, I would like to call out the reception area for their welcoming and professional attitude. I was especially impressed with Ali when I called to book an appointment. She was so nice over the phone that I actually found myself looking forward to meeting her. In person, Ali is friendly, thoughtful, and very efficient. She really set the tone for a very positive visit.

I do not recommend this animal hospital for an emergency. It was the only place that had room for my dog so we went there since she needed to be seen as soon as possible. Got there around midnight (this part is important.) We paid over $4k up front for what they said my dog needed, okay that’s fine and I understand. I left her there and called back that morning to check up on her. They told me that she was okay but they were “not able to get her started on fluids” until 7 AM that morning. My dog was there for 7 hours without getting the help she needed. I understand being busy and having critical patients but that does NOT mean you neglect the ones that also are there for other emergencies. I didn’t say anything but it didn’t sit right with me. Then they called me back to tell me my dog needed surgery, I figured it was coming and was very prepared but not for the cost that they provided. They quoted me $8k for a surgery that should have been half that price. In total if we went with this animal hospital for surgery we would have had to pay over $12k in bills. And they don’t even offer payment plans they wanted all of it up front over the phone. Nothing with this sat right with me so I called around and NO ONE other than them gave me that high of a number, so we transferred her to a different animal hospital who is very well known and they did not once neglect my dog’s needs while she was under the new hospitals care. After discussing this with multiple people (including the staff and doctors at the new animal hospital who work in the emergency department) and a few other people I know who work very closely with vets and in the dog industry, everyone said they only quoted me that high of a price because they thought they could get. In no way shape or form should the surgery my dog needed cost that much, my dogs needs should not have been neglected for 7 hours. Now I can understand why they were the only ones who had room. I am not one to leave bad reviews but when it comes to my dog’s health and safety I will not tolerate something like this.
