My husband and I just moved across the country with our 16-year-old cat, and this was our first visit to Banfield in our new state. We previously had a wellness plan with Banfield in California, and it honestly wasn’t a great experience. We decided to get Simba checked out before we think about leaving Banfield, so we went to the local Leesburg Village location, and wow, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We were immediately greeted by the front desk staff and checked in with ease. The area was clean and didn’t smell. We were asked if we wanted to stay with our pet during the appointment, which was shocking because our old Banfield was strictly drop-off/pick-up, barely ever met the doctor, etc. But we were not only able to meet Dr. Swieter in Leesburg, but also able to witness his hands-on treatment of Simba. He was so kind, patient, so knowledgeable, and easy to converse with. He answered all our questions and concerns, and then he also provided new information regarding Hills Science Diet food and the new Banfield wellness plans that might suit Simba’s situation more than our current plan. We never received anything like this from our previous Banfield, so the transparency was much appreciated. My husband and I are so glad we took Simba in to the Leesburg location, thank you all so much for a great experience!

I’ve been going to this Banfield for about 5 years now, and the only reason I’ve stayed on the wellness plan and banfield for my dogs is because of Dr. Swieter — he’s truly amazing, patient, and caring. I don’t even mind waiting for him (I’ve waited 45 minutes or more before my appointment, which is okay and that’s not the issue at all with me because I know he takes his time with each patient).
However, today’s front-desk experience was really disappointing. After waiting a total of about an hour and a half from my appointment time, I asked the receptionist, Reina, or Rena, if I could see a breakdown of the services and charges after she showed me that she ran my CareCredit like I asked
her. She said we need to wait for the receipts to print out. After it did, she put in front of me without looking at me and turned around.
When I asked if I was being charged for the office visit, She looked shocked that I even asked, paused for several seconds, and responded in a sarcastic way — saying things like, “Ma’am, nobody ever explained these things to you?”
Actually I didn’t really know what exactly I was being charged , we did multiple services and ai was just interested to know and wanted to show my husband.
And honestly, isn’t the front desk supposed to speak to customers, answer questions, and explain charges clearly when someone asks? I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable — just clarity.
I love Dr. Swieter, and will see him. but the front desk experience really left a bad feeling, and I’m now thinking about switching to another office which I hope he still travels. Front-desk interactions matter just as much as the medical care, and today made me feel like I’m not welcome or valued here.

Had a great experience here with my dog. She needed a vaccination and was easy to get an appointment and the doctor was great
