- SSSavannah ShenkJan 28, 20261.0The “care” they give the beta fish is absolutely horrendous. I went into this petco 2 days in a row. The first day I looked at the Betas, there were 2 specific fish who were very sickly but still alive. (But in all honesty, they all looked terrible). Today I returned just to ask them if they could surrender the sickly fish to me so I can put them in my hospital tanks at home and attempt to bring them back to life. Well, all the fish I had seen previously as sick with fungal infections (which is a simple easy fix as long as your willing to put in the care), were dead and still on the shelf. The employees I spoke to tried to blame it on “we’ve had trouble with this last shipment” and I understand, sometimes it’s bad luck and fish die, but this isn’t the first time I’ve seen dead fish on their shelves that had obviously been sitting for a few days. Anyways, there were 3 more very close to dying fish that I stilled proceeded to ask if they could surrender to me (I’m sorry but I’m not paying $20.00 for these half dead fish unsure if I can even save them at this point) and they refused saying that they could not let sick animals leave the store and that their protocol was to quarantine them and treat them. Looks to me they aren’t doing a thing about it. If I were not to say a word and have taken them up to the counter, they would have let me purchase them. It’s all for the money. Do better.
