I'll give this an extra star because the doctor was exceptionally nice, even when delivering bad news. However, getting to see or talk to an actual person at Banfield takes quite an effort. The wellness plan will save you money but just understand what you're signing up for and set your expectations accordingly. They prefer you drop off your pet at 8am and pick them up in the afternoon so they can treat numerous animals at once - like an assembly line. Around noon, you'll get a call to give you an "update" on your pet, and you can guarantee it's going to be to try to sell you something extra. It's upsell, upsell, upsell, and sometimes with high pressure urgency. I have been to 3 locations (Springfield, Fredericksburg, and Massaponax) and they are all the same. Their overall service is just as impersonal. No one answers phones. Online is a chat bot. And you can only cancel your plan by calling an 800 number and talking with someone. They didn't used to be this way. About 10 years ago I would have highly recommended Banfield, but the staff now seem overworked and just stretched far too thin. Basic supplies also seem to be limited. I had to insist on bloodwork for my pet because I was told they didn't have enough. Same for some meds. Banfield is convenient and there are multiple locations, but if I had to do it again, I'd go with a local vet at a smaller office who still cares rather than the impersonal money grab this company has become.

I don’t appreciate making and an appointment for one shot and when I had someone else drop my dog off they gave him three shots when came to pick him up. I never gave anyone else any authority besides dropping off and picking coco up. It’s really sad you trying to sell people stuff when they make an appointment. I never scheduled the other shots so stop trying to be sales people and giving pets shots their owner never ask for. Everyone out for money.

I have a problem with their no pet owners being allowed in the examining room policy. I took my dog on Tuesday for a wellness exam and she started shaking the minute she realized where she was. Even peed on her blanket. My dog was abused before I adopted her and they know it. They want to put her on medication for elevated liver levels. Stress will cause this.

I took my dogs here as puppies and the plan was good as it covered the exams, vaccines, and their neuters. They were great 10 years ago. My dogs are now seniors and I went in to sign up for one of the wellness plans. I was proceeded to be told my dog would need dental x rays which are not covered by the plan and that my dog was slightly anemic so could not get the covered dental cleaning until his levels are normal. They then told me that he had also one swollen lymph node in his back leg and would refuse the dental cleaning until it is biopsied. Working in healthcare myself, swollen lymph nodes are not a preexisting issue that need to be assessed before a dental cleaning and anesthesia. They also kept my dog for 7 hours for his drop off appointment and never called me, I had to call multiple times. His vet bill was 600 dollars just for a comprehensive exam, one vaccine, and bloodwork. This place is a money pit and absolutely will not be going back 👍🏻
