With great sadness, I have to report my experience at this place, where I’ve been a loyal client for over three years. Today my dog had a medical appointment for his routine check-up at 11:00 a.m. I was told it would take about two to two and a half hours. After that time passed, I decided to stop by to see how things were going and possibly take my dog home.
When I arrived, I met a new (at least to me) nurse named Joe, who unfortunately treated me very poorly. He told me, in a rude manner, that my dog wasn’t ready, that they were short-staffed, and that they hadn’t even started with him yet. When I asked why no one had called to let me know it would take longer, he replied that there were no supervisors or receptionists available. Then, with the same unpleasant attitude, he walked away while I was still speaking.
I called the clinic to speak with a supervisor, but the same person answered and told me again that there was no one available. When I asked for his name, he refused to give it and told me I could either file a complaint or wait half an hour until the doctor finished her lunch — because, as he said, they had the right to eat.
Honestly, it would have been much easier and more respectful to simply apologize and ask me to return later. Instead, I felt humiliated, disrespected, and mocked. I have never received such treatment from this clinic before today.
And it leaves me deeply worried — if he treats clients this way, how does he treat our pets?

They are great. The doctor takes care of all my dogs. No issues. They always ask before anything. A little pricey for the monthly but still good.

Avoid at all cost. Multiple pets have died here because of the poorly trained staff. They just try to make a profit off you and your pet.

We have been with Banfield for at least 25 years. We live closer to the Potomac Yard, VA location. Our experience at this location was not great. In fact, we were about to cancel our 2 dogs Optimum Wellness plans and find another vet outside of Banfield. We accidentally stumbled across a Banfield on Mill Rd in Fairfax. We are so happy that we did. They are amazing and we’re so happy with them. We had always had great experiences with Banfield on our many military moves. I highly recommend the location in Fairfax. It’s a lot further from our home, but well worth the drive

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
