Check out is always a problem. Staff just mill around talking to each other. They only have one person working on the register. You always have to wait in line to check out. The other employees are talking to each other.

Dear Petco Corporate Team,
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the experience my family and I had today at your Woodbridge, Dale Blvd, Virginia location.
My wife, my 6-year-old son, and I waited for about 10 minutes in the fish section with no assistance. I then approached two employees who were standing nearby, laughing and talking about personal matters. When I asked for help, they rolled their eyes and said someone would come shortly. Ten minutes later, no one arrived.
I went back to ask again and found three employees now gathered, still talking and laughing about personal topics. When I politely asked for help again, one of them told me to “be patient” and said they were “talking about something,” then turned their back on us and continued their conversation.
When I asked to speak to a manager, one of the employees laughed at me. The manager—who was actually one of the same employees talking—came over and said, “just wait, I’m sorry,” but still did nothing to help. My 6-year-old was crying because it was supposed to be his first time buying fish, and the manager looked at him and said, “it’s not a big deal.” To make matters worse, I overheard staff mocking my accent afterward.
This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. It was unprofessional, disrespectful, and discriminatory. I insist that this matter be formally investigated and that corrective action be taken. I also expect a written response describing the steps Petco will take to address this incident.
Please note that I will be sharing this experience with my local community if I do not receive an appropriate response.

I came with my son to get fish. He was very excited and what was going to be a wonderful experience turned out to be an awful one. We waited 20 min and no one came to offer help. When we went to ask for help the three clerks including Vicky were talking loudly and laughing sharing personal stories. We asked for a help and she lady with colorful dreads said she will come in a minute. We waited another 10 min and went back to them. They continued to discuss and to laugh loudly. I asked if someone will help us, the lady with the dreads shouted from the other side of the aisle asking what do we need help with. I asked her to come and we can ask her not shouting in the store. She came and made a gesture to go to the fish section and someone will come and help us. She then went back to the other people saying “Anyway…” and continued her personal conversation with the other staff. Then Vicky came (finally) but we were so disappointed at that point and we left the store. Awful customer service. I will not recommend this store to anyone. No one cares in this store. Very bad experience.
