They were there overnight when we needed their care. Dr. Bailey was great. Also the girl that let us in was great too. (I Forgot her name in all my worrying).Sorry!

Only reason I took my dog Zoey to town and country is because it’s the only vet open when I get off work. As I was walking through the front doors i wasn’t greeted very nicely. The lady at the front counter (black hair, wide eyes, and LGBTQ VT stickers on her computer) was very rude when I approached her. She acted as if my presence bothered her and I was a vain to her existence. Rolling her eyes and saying things under her breath. She asked if my dog needed to be seen, I told her that I’m pretty sure Zoey has a yeast overgrowth on her skin and also has an ear infection. Before I could finish she rudely interrupted me saying “How do you know it’s a yeast overgrowth or an ear infection, you’re not a vet, has she been seen by a vet yet?” That interaction it’s self told me all I needed to know about this place. I explained to her my why I thought she had those problems. Once again she kept saying I wasn’t a vet so I “Don’t know what I’m talk About”. She belittled me in front of the whole lobby and her other coworkers. After that rude interaction we waited to be seen my a vet. I was brought back to a room and waited for Zoey to been seen. About 30 minutes to an hour later someone comes in to evaluate Zoey, I had told the vet exactly what I told the lady at the front counter. She insisted on doing a bunch of skin tests and other tests to determine what was wrong with Zoey. After she took Zoey to the back to do test we went over the total and she told me she would keep in touch as the test results come in. She also wanted to do follow up appointments every week. When I went back for the checkups I would ask about the results from the test and I got no response. They just wanted to keep testing her. They also sent us home with 2 medications and a “special shampoo and conditioner” before even knowing what problems Zoey had. When they would take her to the back she sat in a cage until she was ready to been seen (yeah they don’t tell you that part) I don’t mind waiting but 2 hours seems a bit much for just a few test being done. And why can’t my animal stay in the room until they are actually ready to been seen? After all the check ups were done once again she stated that she would be in touch with me as the results came in….almost 2 weeks go bye, no text…..no email…. Not even a phone call. So I decided to call myself and ask. Nobody answered the phone so I left a voice mail. The next day I got a call but I couldn’t answer because I was in the middle of work. They left a very hateful and very rude voicemail for me. Also saying that the doctor went over the test with me in the room (if that were the case then I wouldn’t be calling🙄) the lady said “regardless Zoey is all negative for testing. I just thought to myself there’s no way ALLLL of the testing was negative. Zoey had scabs all over her from head to toe, her skin was very red and inflamed and also hot to the touch. Her fur was falling out of chunks. There has to be something wrong. They offered to keep doing more testing and I decided. I spent well over 1k in test, medications and “special shampoo and conditioners” and I was furious. At this point it seemed like they just wanted my money. I switched over to the VT Community practice only spent 2 hours at the vet, one test and $200. They came back in 20 minutes with her skin results and guess what…she had a yeast overgrowth and a really bad ear infection. Exactly what I told the ladies at town and country. Not to mention VT community vet actually sat there and listened to my concerns instead of belittling me. They also do the exams in the room with you which I really really like. Needless to say town and country ran me for my money and did not care about the wellbeing of my dog. I will not be taking my dog or any of my animals of that matter to Town and Country. I have also advised my family, friends and my coworkers to NOT take your animals to town and country.

Going through this right now with my 1.5yo shepherd. At the time 10am this morning We thought she broke her hip after jumping for a toy and falling on it wrong. I immediately took her to town and county because they are the only ones I thought were open.. Walked inside told them what was going on they said oh well you need to do paperwork, i said can i bring her in and do the paperwork while yall check on her and give her something for pain, she bluntly said no so I did the paperwork (mind you it was a packet 10+ forms, and took 15mins), then waited 30 minutes for someone to take the paperwork back from me, then the front staff said it would be another '30ish minutes' but to leave the dog in the car while we waited..Mind you I was the only one in the clinic front room, while my girl was yelping in pain unable to move..
Thank God we found a new emergency vet clinic in radford.. We called them leaving this poor excuse of a vet clinic and they were waiting outside for us and IMMEDIATELY took her back to manage her pain.. It was a broken right leg, Tibia (spelling may be incorrect) just below the hip.. clean break, now needs emergency surgery and they are doing it at 8am tomorrow morning.
I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND TOWN AND COUNTY TO ANYONE.
Update
My girl ended up having to have emergency surgery due to a broken tibia..
