Safe to say, if you do not like animals and/or are uncomfortable around them then maybe you shouldn’t work at a store that specializes in care and products for animals. My dog had an appointment to get her nails clipped today which was made over a week in advance. She was taken to the store the day before her nail appointment to have her rabies shot in order for her to even get her nails clipped. No issues whatsoever with my dog or staff during the shot appointment. Unfortunately I cannot say that about the next visit. Upon arriving, the girl who was the groomer (didn’t catch name) already had a bad attitude and was unfriendly. If anything my dog was just hesitant to get up on the table, which the groomer had someone else assist her. Dog is on table with no problem. It was a very short visit because she said she couldn’t trim my dogs nails because she claimed that she keeps trying to bite her. Absolutely not and that’s something that would have been taken seriously by me. No growls, barks, nothing just a dog slightly nervous of the process. Keep in mind my dog had visited the day before with no issues. The groomer was just disgruntled, bad attitude and probably didn’t know what she was doing. She recommended I take my dog elsewhere where she could be muzzled. It was insulting. Maybe she needs more training in customer service and I guess in general being around animals…or work in a different field. As a frequent shopper I’m completely disappointed by this experience and behavior of the girl who is supposed to be a groomer.

I had a very disappointing experience with Britney at Petco grooming. I brought my dog in expecting professional grooming services, only to be turned away because of some matting in my dog’s fur. While I understand safety policies are important, I was surprised that there was little effort to offer solutions or alternatives beyond simply refusing service. As a pet owner, I came seeking help from trained professionals specifically because grooming challenges can happen especially with breeds that are prone to matting. Instead of feeling supported or educated on next steps, I felt dismissed and left without assistance. Customer service is not just about following policy but also about how customers are treated during the process. I expected more understanding, guidance, and professionalism from a well-known company like Petco. Unfortunately, this experience fell short of those expectations. I hope Petco reviews how situations like this are handled so pet owners feel supported rather than turned away.
