This place completely wasted my time. I booked my dog’s grooming appointment well in advance because I’m traveling in two days. When I realized I was running late, I called — and the person on the phone actually checked with the groomer, Kelsey, and told me: “She said as long as you’re here before noon, you’re fine.” So I showed up a couple minutes before noon… and was told they wouldn’t take him. No apology. No responsibility. Just excuses. Then Kelsey suddenly claimed my dog couldn’t be washed because he was “too tangled.” That’s simply not true. He isn’t tangled — he’s just fluffy. In fact, he was in worse shape last time, and it was the same groomer, and they still took him after I brushed him for a minute in the car. If it was “okay” then, how is it not okay now? It honestly felt like she was just trying to avoid doing the appointment. And for context — last time they groomed him, they didn’t even clip his nails. So this isn’t just a one-time slip; it’s careless service and zero consideration for customers. I rearranged my entire day because they told me I’d be fine — and then they turned me away anyway. Misleading, inconsistent, and incredibly frustrating. On top of that, this completely wrecked my plans. I’m leaving in two days, I’ll be gone for a month, and I don’t even know if I’ll be able to find another grooming appointment in time. I just wanted to hand my dog over to my sister clean and taken care of — and now I’m scrambling. This put me in a really bad spot for no reason at all. I won’t be coming back.

I love this store! Really sweet staff able to navigate a busy store throughout the aisles. I used to work retail at the holiday season so game respect game :)

Horrible groomers. A man was giving my dog a cut, all was normal until he came home and started acting stranger and weird. Turns out he had cuts all over his private parts and was really red and irritated. He was twitching and couldnt sleep at all. His legs were shivering and shaking, and he kept whining from pain. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. They should know to be gentle around that area. They can't cut dogs. They are NOT professionals. My dog is still shaking and cannot move or sleep as to today.

I usually avoid this Petco because the customer service is not great, but since it’s close to my mother’s home and they carry the rabbit-flavored food her cat eats, I decided to stop in anyway. I had forgotten my wallet, but my mother gave me $100 so I could buy the food and have some cash on hand. When I went to pay for the food (around $18), the cashier told me she would not take the $100 because they “had no change.” She didn’t attempt to check, didn’t look in the drawer, didn’t ask a manager—just looked down on me and immediately said they couldn’t accept the bill. A couple of suggestions for Petco management: It will sometimes happen for customers to pay with larger bills. Keep proper change on hand—at least in the back, if not in the register itself. If the concern is counterfeit bills, there are inexpensive counterfeit-checking pens that most retailers use. As large as Petco is, they absolutely can and should have one available. I’m done with this store and honestly with Petco altogether. I went to the PetSmart on Route 1 instead, bought the same items, paid cash without any issues, and received friendly, competent customer service. Petco should take notes.
