On March 24, 2026, I scheduled a 5:00 PM appointment online with Banfield Pet Hospital of Sandy and received a confirmation email at 2:57 PM.
I left work early to make this appointment, only to arrive and be told my dog could not be seen.
What makes this even more frustrating is that my dog’s name was clearly written on the whiteboard of scheduled patients for the day. So not only did the system allow me to book the appointment, but someone at the clinic clearly saw it and acknowledged it—yet no one called to inform me there was an issue.
Instead, I was told they had recently moved to a new system and I “shouldn’t have been able” to make the appointment. That is not the customer’s responsibility. If the appointment existed in your system and was visible to staff, it should have been honored—or at the very least, I should have been contacted ahead of time.
I was then told they might make an “exception.” An exception? I had a confirmed appointment. This should not have required special consideration.
The final explanation given was that they didn’t have enough time before closing at 6:00 PM. This was for a possible ear infection—something that could have been addressed quickly. Again, if time constraints were an issue, why was I not notified in advance?
After leaving, I went to an emergency clinic down the street (VEG) and my dog was fully examined—heart, temperature, weight, ear swab, and ear exam—in just 15 minutes.
This experience with Banfield was a complete waste of my time and extremely disappointing, especially when dealing with a pet who needed care. Unfortunately, this is not my first negative experience with Banfield.
I will not be returning and cannot recommend this location. I strongly encourage others to consider alternatives that respect your time and follow through on scheduled appointments.

Never go here! When I initially called to get a quote for my puppy shots they said it would only be $170 they had me drop off my puppy and then when I went to pick him up they’re telling me it’s $300 which is not what I was originally quoted, they then kept insisting and insisting on a wellness plan when I told them no to begin with, they kept insisting and when I asked them straight forward “how much would I pay out in the front desk for just the shots” they told me again $300 and apparently they did other services I did not ask for, I felt like I had no choice but to do this wellness plan (all they talked to me about was if I wanted it with the neutered included or without) they said it would be $50 monthly while my dog is a puppy and they couldn’t even explain when the payment would process or how cancellation would work! The receptionist only gave me a card to call for more information which was already shady as to how can you keep insisting I take this plan but won’t tell me more about it but the manager apparently says they did talk to me about this UMM NO THEY DID NOT! Please don’t bring your dogs here, they really don’t care to help you, they will do extra services you did not ask for and make you pay for them and PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE WELLNESS PLAN BECAUSE THERE IS NO CANCELLATION, meaning if you get into financial or life difficulties they still cannot cancel your monthly payments! They can only cancel the auto renewal. The Banfield billing told me only a manager can cancel at no cost but she refused to do that and now I am stuck on a plan I will not use because they initially misquoted me and I will never go here again.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
