- KEKathleen EJan 27, 20261.0Sorry, long story. I took my kitten in for an exam. She was losing hair all over. They noticed the ears were dirty. They suggested it could be ear mites. I told them I’m sure it isn’t because her sister didn’t have this issue. The tested for ear mites. Didn’t see ear mites. They prescribed preventative. I was still sure it wasn’t ear mites and asked if it could be allergies or something. They couldn’t wait to get out of the room and simply said “maybe. Let us know if it doesn’t clear up” as they walked out and shut the door. I did the preventative. Just in case. Nothing changed. I decided to take this on myself and over the next 2 months, I changed her food and started probiotics, thinking it had to be food allergies. Her hair started to come back a little so I hoped we were on the right track. After these 2 months, I came home from work and heard her shake her head. There was liquid in one of her ears. I had heard good things aboutHillside and found out they had an urgent care. Obviously they diagnosed an ear infection… That had been the issue the whole time. But the vet at vetco didn’t even check for it. I hadn’t needed to spend 100s of dollars switching to LID. The ear infection had been knocking down her immune system, making her hair thin and she was itchy so she was scratching out extra hair. My baby had an ear infection for months and I didn’t know because the first vet didn’t check for it…
