I had a very frustrating and concerning experience at Petco today.
I dropped my dog off at 11am for a grooming appointment. At 1pm I received a call saying the groomer had called out which was confusing, because I had just spoken to the woman who was supposed to groom my dog earlier. I understood and agreed to reschedule
When I arrived, one of the employees mentioned that “she was having a hard time,” but didn’t clarify whether that meant my dog or the groomer. If my dog was struggling, I should have been clearly informed. Instead, I was left confused and still allowed to reschedule without any real explanation.
What upset me the most was what happened after While bringing my dog out, another employee accidentally hit my dog in the head with a door. Both of us gasped, but instead of apologizing or acknowledging it, the employee laughed it off and walked into the room closing the door behind her. Accidents happen, but completely ignoring something like that is unacceptable especially when it involves someone’s pet.
I’ve been to the Clinton location multiple times without issues, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Between the lack of communication and the way my dog was handled, I don’t feel confident bringing her back.
They did a great job with my doodle who was tangled and had to be shaved down. They called me to make sure that I was OK with having to go a shorter. Great customer service!
Jody is an exceptional groomer. She’s fallen in love with our little Yorkshire terrier Bernie first time we came in because we were trying to find a groomer that knew what they were doing and when she did it the first time we were absolutely stunned by the beautiful haircut and bath.

If I could give zero stars, I would! Do not take your dog to this or any other Petco grooming location. We have a senior dog and her breed is known for having sensitive ears. The groomers here don't pay attention to detail, are not patient or careful with sensitive dogs. The groomer waited until last to trim her ears and our dog was whining and they said tried to bite her (she has only 4 teeth...so this is laughable) so they would not finish and we were left with a hack job. We had previously had a good experience at the Layton location, so we decided to try again. We made an appointment, which they confirmed at least 5 times. We showed up to the appointment to be told she had been banned from Petco and they wouldn't honor our appointment. This is horrible policy and horrible customer service.
