I arrived at 9:50 a.m. for my husky’s 10:00 a.m. appointment (ten minutes early), yet Riley wasn’t even at work. I was told to wander around the store until he decided to show up. He finally arrived at 10:05 looking like he had just rolled out of bed or was hungover. Completely unprofessional. He glanced at my husky for all of two seconds before refusing service, claiming he “only bathes” and doesn’t actually groom. If that’s true, why is he scheduled for grooming appointments at all? Why was my time wasted? What upsets me even more is that my husky was completely judged the wrong way. He is the sweetest boy and has never hurt anyone. He was simply a little scared, which is completely normal especially since this was his first time at Petco. I clearly noted in the booking that he does better with female groomers and that he’s shy but very gentle and just needs a moment to warm up. He wasn’t even given a chance. It was an immediate denial with no effort to understand his temperament. Grooming appointments take up most of the day, which is why I specifically scheduled this around my work schedule. That time was completely wasted due to incompetence and poor management. I deeply regret trying Petco and should have stuck with Petsmart, where professionalism and basic respect for customers actually exist.
