The last 3 times I went to a previously made online appointment, the groomers were not there on time & I had to wait 15 minutes or more for them to come in. I made my appt. in the afternoon to prevent having to wait & arrived 15-20 min. early. There is no receptionist & the groomer told me to walk around the store until she was finished. For some reason, they took the chairs out of the check-in area so you can't sit & wait but are forced to walk around the store. I complained to the manager, Freddy, who informed he didn't know that they took out the chairs which is odd cause they have not been there for months. I also shared with him my previous experiences of the groomers being late & that I had found a tick on my dog after he was bathed & shaved the last time I was there in April. Freddy appeared to be trying to improve the customer experience by bringing me a chair, & telling me that they were short staffed & the manager for the grooming side had recently quit. However, the groomer told me that I should reschedule my appt. in a disrespective tone. Freddy said he recognized that she was being rude & would talk to her. He said that I could reschedule my appt. if I wanted with this same groomer or another. I decided to leave. He told me he would email me to reschedule my appt. However, that was 5 days ago & he never emailed me.

This store always has employees that assist. Usually at other Petco I have to wait 10 minutes before I can get an employee to help me. At Ranson someone always asks if I need any assistance before I’m even ready to buy something. 10/10 Edit: please give me a gift card for more saltwater fish stuff

I had a grooming appointment for my (almost) 8-year-old Golden Pitty and this was the first grooming appointment for my 6.5-month Australian Shepherd. My appointment was at 10:30, however I arrived at 9:30 due to the time that I needed to be at work. And following, when I was talking to my stylist when I was in the store a few weeks prior (I brought one in for a “quick” nail trim) I had asked if I can come early to take care of the paperwork and get everyone checked in, due to needing to provide shot records for the puppy with this being her first grooming. Her and I both agreed that someone should be there to check us in, and if another dog is there, I will be waiting anyway, so all should be ok. Well, it wasn’t. It was horrible. And first things first, it had nothing to do with the stylist(s) or employee (s) that tried to assist and have all together been wonderful in my several years of going to this store. It had to do with the manager on duty Freddy. Upon my arrival I was waiting alone in the grooming area, I assumed that they were all dealing with their appointment(s) since there was no receptionist on staff. Then out came a stylist- soaked from washing a dog. She said she was the only one here, I explained why I was here a bit early, and she asked me to get help from someone in the main area. However, this was no luck because none of them can check in dogs, only stylists can perform this. The manager had the other employee (who is a very knowledgably in the fish department!) go sit with the wet dog while the stylist checked me in. As expected, - it took a bit, because of the reasons I previously outlined. Well, while we were just about wrapped up and the manager came into the grooming area and preceded to elevate his voice towards me about arriving earlier to drop the dogs off and Shay not being there. I advised him I made the appointment online and why I got there an hour ahead of time to allow for new dog paperwork, a line and not being able to stay long after my appointment time because I had to get to my job. In a very irate tone, he told me that it is not how this works and how I am very much in the wrong. All this was going on while my dogs were continuing to get checked in and he was screaming over the stylist working. I informed him that I did not appreciate him coming at me, as I did not get there hours before, it was one. And by the time it was done I was 31 minutes early. As this manager raised his voice to me, I asked him the name of his boss. He informed me to call customer service. After signing and me leaving, Freddy preceded to follow me outside the store and tried to apologize and wanted to continue to speak to me. I informed him that his apology was not accepted, and I have never been treated with such disrespect. When he asked my name, I refused to provide it. As I have looked online and while scheduling appointment, I have noticed that there is no disclaimer that I cannot arrive early to drop off my animals. And honestly, it is not my fault that you are too cheap to hire a receptionist, or managers will not get themselves cross trained to be able to help and check in pets. The stylists and other Petco employees have all been amazing over the years and I am flat out shocked that you allow someone with that demeanor to be a manager. I genuinely feel sorry for the staff that need to be in his presence daily. If he was there when the grooming manager left unexpectedly, I think I understand why. I cannot imagine working for such a disrespectful person. I am still in utter shock I was treated with such disrespect by Freddy, I hope after all of this you at least for him to take a soft skills or customer experience class and rethink his actions and areas for improvement in the Petco Grooming processes and procedures.

I have been talking my Lagotto for 8 years for various levels of grooming. Over those years I have tried maybe a dozen grommers. They were for the most part good but none of them listened to me. None included Petco had groomed a Lagotto. BUT they were willing to work with me and now have her cut down to a science. They are kind, patient and most important to me is when I pull into the parking lot my Lagotto wants to go into meet her friends. That means everything to me. Thanks Petco...!

Made an appt for my dog, made an appt. The day of the appt i was told they couldn’t take him because his rabies shot expired that day. The manager working was asked why we weren’t called prior to appt to let us know he wouldn’t be seen, he answered saying they have no way to tell until the day it’s expired or after, but then turned around and said they left a voicemail. He was told we never received a voicemail and he literally argued with me. I told him he was unprofessional and that’s when he said petco would no longer service us. Please take your pet elsewhere; they delete reviews. I called the ethics hotline and i’m not sure what came of it. Petco has dropped the ball on my family multiple times and inconvenience us in ways that I can’t even begin to explain.
