- JOJay OstosAug 3, 20261.0We purchased an 8-week-old Goldendoodle from Puppy World because she seemed like a calm, healthy puppy. As recommended, we took her to the vet within the 7-day health guarantee period. Unfortunately, the veterinarian diagnosed her with both an ear infection and a parasite. Because she wasn't eating due to these health issues, her blood sugar dropped to a dangerous level and we had to rush her to the emergency veterinary hospital. Within the first week of owning her, we had spent approximately $5,700 between purchasing the puppy and emergency medical care. I contacted Puppy World to see if they would help with the unexpected veterinary expenses since the puppy was diagnosed with medical issues immediately after we brought her home. I was told they would not assist with the ER costs. For the ear infection medication prescribed by our veterinarian (about $60), they offered store credit if I brought in my receipt. I was also told I could bring the puppy back to Puppy World for treatment, including IV fluids if necessary. Personally, I wasn't comfortable with that option and chose to keep her under the care of our veterinarian and the emergency hospital. Thankfully, our puppy is doing much better now, but the experience was emotionally and financially stressful. My advice to anyone considering purchasing a puppy here is to have the puppy examined by an independent veterinarian immediately and be prepared for the possibility of unexpected medical expenses. I hope Puppy World considers providing stronger support to families who discover health issues so soon after bringing a puppy home.

The breeder information is incorrect and not able to get ahold of them to at least have them sent to me. Spent 3,800 on a dog at least they could do is give me her correct paperwork. What should be my first step after I purchase my puppy?
To activate our warranty at Puppyworld, we require you to take your new puppy for a veterinary examination within 7 days of purchase. We provide a coupon for a free exam at our partner veterinarians. This initial check-up not only validates your warranty but also gives your puppy a thorough physical examination and helps establish a relationship with a veterinarian if you don't already have one. During this visit, the vet will inform you about the schedule for any remaining vaccinations and/or deworming treatments your puppy may need.
What do I need when I first get a puppy?
For first-time dog owners, essential items include food, dishes for food and water, training treats, chew toys, plenty of regular toys, and a wire training kennel. Training treats serve as positive reinforcement when your puppy follows commands during potty training or basic obedience like sit and stay. If your dog ever becomes lost, runs away, or is stolen and ends up at a veterinary office or animal shelter, they can scan the chip and contact you to reunite you with your pet.
Are our puppies spayed or neutered?
Our puppies range from 2 to 4 months of age, which is too young for spaying or neutering procedures. The responsibility for these procedures falls to the new owner should they choose to have their puppy altered as they mature.
