  Kindest workers at a Petco ever! They are overworked and likely underpaid, but they were able to help us in the middle of rush hour and I appreciate it all.

  I only use the store for dog grooming but the last two times her face and privates weren’t trimmed up as nicely as they should have been. Both times i came home and trimmed her face and back end closer. The store itself near the front door is dirty and needs a deep cleaning. I’m actively looking for a new groomer.

  I have been visiting this Petco for the past month. For cat food and feeders for my Mantids, Tarantulas, True Spiders and Jumping Spiders. I have been keeping Spiders for years. I have watched as the "desk pet" Jumping Spiders went from 5-6 young Jumpers all the way down to one left because the rest died. As far as I've noted, they were all starving to death. I notified staff that they needed to be properly fed each time I came in and checked on the Jumpers. At one point I told them if they werent fed in the next 48 hours that they would start dying due to how shriveled and lethargic they had become. I personally ended up bringing one or two up to the desk because they were in a death curl at the bottom of their enclosures with shriveled abdomens. When all the Jumpers were still alive, there was only one that wasn't starving. That is now the one in these photos. As you can see, its abdomen is shriveled like the four to five that suffered before it and would soon join the rest in death if not immediately fed correctly. I was so distraught seeing this that I bought this Jumper just to save it from the horrible fate all the previous Jumpers had fallen to because the notifications to staff are not taken seriously. Petco obviously is not prepared to have animals like these on their shelves if they arent able to adequately allow their staff how to feed them properly. This one, like the rest before it, had Melanogaster fruit flies in the enclosure with it. The reason they all starved to death is that those fruit flies are too small to feed Jumping Spiders as they grow. Extra small meal worms, pin head crickets, or preferably Hydei fruit flies were what these should have been fed. Today I notified the manager on shift and told them that I have watched as all of their Jumping Spiders died due to lack of appropriate food and that they need to feed them properly if they want to ensure their pets dont keep ending up dead. I was met with immediate defensiveness and the claim that it is hard to get feeder insects in-stock and that there is only so much they can do as they are instructed to only feed them fruit flies and pin head crickets. Neither Hydei fruit flies nor pin head crickets are readily available at Petco stores. Melanogastor are in-fact the only fruit fly I have seen regularly sold at Petco, as opposed to Petsmart. With multiple animals that this store and company sell as pets now dead, I cannot find this answer to be at all acceptable. Either have the training necessary to feed small and fragile animals like adolescent Jumping Spiders or dont have them at all. If a store cannot keep or obtain the proper stock to feed their animals, they should not have animals at all. I don't necessarily blame shift management as much as I blame corporate for punishing employees for incorporating PROPER care into the routines for these poor animals. Jumping Spiders are new to the Petco shelves, this is absolutely no excuse either. Either learn properly before getting new animals or dont get them at all. It was a struggle getting this Jumper to eat once I got home as it had become so weak that it at first didnt have the strength to catch appropriately sized xs mealworms. I had to cut a larger mealworm in half to get it to eat anything at all. Which is also included in the photos I've submitted here. In addition, I've included a feeding chart to show how extreme the lengths of this one's starvation was. The starvation I had witnessed the rest face before dying. I know stores like Petco and Petsmart are well known for treating animals poorly. Improper food, improper husbandry, inadequate living conditions, etc. But seeing this much death, especially of creatures I know arent difficult to properly care for, makes me sick. The last photos are apparently the motto they display at their reptile/exotic animals section. I guess they're desperate for people to believe it if they are displaying things like this. But apparently not desperate enough to actually do the bare minimum care of the animals they house. Get better, Petco.
