Refused to give us a refund for dog training classes we paid for after their trainer quit mid-classes and they went through three trainers in the year we were trying to get our dog in to finish her advanced citizenship class, all with very limited schedules that are tough for working people. Had to call corporate customer service and fight with them to get our money back for services NOT RENDERED, still waiting on that outcome. Will use local trainer companies with reliable staffing next time. DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET ROBBED OF $250!!!

We’re so grateful for Steve. He’s an amazing dog trainer with lots of knowledge and very organized. He taught our puppy Meelo how to follow commands ,and never gave up on him. Meelo is as hyper as it gets being a mix between: schnauzer, jack terrier and a chihuahua. This Petco store is so lucky to have him as an employee.

I had a horrible experience with the grooming department at Petco. I have a Goldendoodle whose fur mats very quickly. If I miss brushing him for even a few days, he can get knots. In the past, other groomers have been able to brush him out, so when I brought him in, I asked if that was an option. The groomer told me that brushing him out was against their policy because it was too matted. I explained that I really wanted to try to save his coat and that it's been done before, I told her i would get a second opinion from another groomer before agreeing to shave him. That interaction felt very pleasent, and it seemed like she understood me. After speaking with another groomer, I realized shaving him was the best option, so I had them do it where I got the second opinion. Recently, my dog became matted again. I decided to try Petco once more because the previous place I had been using consistently sent him home with fleas, and my sister regularly takes her two dogs to Petco, so they were at the forefront of my mind as an option. I called Petco to schedule an appointment to have him shaved down. The store manager was the one who picked up my call, i immediately let her know i needed a complete shave for my dog. She then informed me that I had been "flagged" in their system and that they could not make an appointment for me. When I asked why, she told me it was because I had taken my dog somewhere else after they recommended shaving him, she said it appears that i was trying to "prove a point" by taking him elsewhere. That was never my intention. I simply wanted a second opinion because I was hoping to preserve my dog's coat. He is small and gets cold easily, so I wanted to explore every option before agreeing to shave him. I explained that I was now requesting a shave, not a brush-out, and asked why I still couldn't make an appointment. I was then told that I had been flagged as "unsafe." I clarified that my dog weighs less than seven pounds, has never bitten anyone, and is very sweet and obedient. She responded that no, we have it marked as "our environment" is unsafe for him. When I questioned how their environment could be considered unsafe for him? She responded that it was because i wanted something done that was against their policy. I could not make logic of that. I explained again that I was not requesting a brush-out and was only asking for a shave. At that point, she responded that based on how I was speaking, she understood why I was flagged. That I was being difficult and that they weren't going to continue explaining it to me. The manager then hung up on me. I had remained calm throughout the conversation. I was not yelling or being rude, and was simply trying to understand why I was being denied service. I left the interaction feeling shocked, incredibly mistreated, and unfairly judged. I understand that businesses have policies, but customers should be able to ask questions and seek clarification without being treated as though they are a problem. Based on my experience, I felt that asking questions or seeking a second opinion resulted in being labeled as difficult and denied future services.

Betta fish are mislabeled. A black crown betta was labeled as a black orchid, making it over twice the price. I also check the Josh's Frogs displays for moss. All of the Josh's Frogs items were dead. Dates were January/December, it's June. Would only stop at this location if all the other locations were out of stock on something I wanted.

It was filthy. Only 2 employees and they had to man the check outs. They were nice. No public bathroom. Is that even legal?! I went because we needed prescription dog food. The Petco in east Vancouver is everything you could want!! It's clean with very nice and informed people. It's now my top of the list Petco!!
