  I’ve given this Petco multiple chances, but after tonight, they’ve lost my business. A couple of weeks ago, I came in about 45 minutes before closing to purchase a fish. The employee who appeared to be the manager told me they weren’t selling fish because it was too close to closing time. Tonight, I came back around 7:30 PM—about an hour and a half before closing—and asked for help with the fish department. The same employee told me they weren’t selling fish because they “didn’t have the staff.” Meanwhile, he was mopping the floor instead of helping customers. Whether it’s due to staffing or store policy, it’s incredibly frustrating to advertise live fish but repeatedly refuse to sell them during normal business hours. I ended up putting back the other aquarium supplies I was planning to purchase and left empty-handed. If the fish department regularly closes long before the store does, that should be clearly posted so customers don’t waste their time. Unfortunately, after two experiences like this, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

  ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ I normally enjoy shopping at Petco, but I left yesterday feeling heartbroken. I stopped in to buy fish supplies and had absolutely no intention of bringing home another pet. While I was there, I noticed a Sun Conure that has reportedly been in the store for nearly a year. She appeared to be very depressed and had already started plucking her feathers, which was difficult to see. I asked an associate if the store would consider increasing her discount from 50% to 75% so I could give her a loving forever home. The associate spoke with the assistant manager, came back, and told me it had been approved. As they were getting everything ready, another manager stepped in and reversed the decision. This isn’t meant to criticize the employees—they were kind and genuinely tried to help. I’m simply asking Petco to honor the 75% discount that was already approved so this sweet bird can finally have the home she deserves before her condition worsens. Petco, if someone from your customer care team sees this, I would truly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. My only goal is to help this bird get the care, enrichment, and loving home she needs. Thank you for taking the time to read my experience.
