  Such a great experience. Frankie was groomed exactly how I asked. The staff were so nice to both me and my dog.

  Never again. For many years we went to the Petco Grooming Salon in the University District and never had a problem. I have now taken my 110lb. dog to have her nails trimmed/dremeled at the Northgate Petco but never again. EACH time my dog was placed on a grooming table that was barely wide or long enough for her to stand safely. The table was free-standing so it was wobbly. The first time we had to wait 30 minutes for our appointment due to over-booking and then two nails on each front paw were untrimmed (which I did not notice until we got home). The second time, I watched in fear as Jaime again placed my dog on a wobbly, too small table as he tried to back her against the wall and use his body to prevent her from falling. My dog is well-behaved and does not make a fuss unless she is hurt or scared. The LAST time was a few weeks ago. First, I called to ask why I had not gotten an email reminder and Jaime said he had forgot to put the appointment in the calendar so I had to reschedule. Then, when we arrived, again over-booked and another 30 minute wait. I told Jaime that the table he had used twice previously and electronically raised waist high was too small, too wobbly and a danger for my 110lb dog. He said he would make sure she was secure. I raced to the register to pay and get back to the grooming salon and make sure he had used a larger table. Nope, this time was WORSE than ever. Not only was the table wobbly, free-standing and Jaime was again trying to back her against the wall as he did her nails BUT HE HAD AN ACTUAL DOG UNDER THE TABLE! Maybe it was his dog but this was a high risk situation for both dogs to be startled and injured. I had asked for Jaime to trim the hair on her paws as well. I watched as he trimmed her paws while hair fell all over the poor dog under the table. Then, I watched as he began to dremel her left, front paw and saw her try to jerk her paw away, which caused her weight to shift to the side of the table and Jaime grabbed her and the table to keep it from toppling over. I told the other groomer I wanted the nail trim stopped but she said I had to wait until she checked in the patron standing in line. I watched Jaime move to my dog's right, rear paw and the table again off balance and saw my dog terrified. I told the groomer if she did not get my dog right then, that I would. Just then, Jaime brought her out to me. Keep in mind that I had already paid and included a tip because you must pay upfront or you do not get your dog AND you cannot pay in the grooming salon. You must go to the main registers in the store. I was furious when we left and I knew I would never take her back there again. When we got home, I looked at her paws and remember above I watched my dog pull her left, front paw away from the groomer? That is because when he was using the dremel and the table started to wobble, he dremeled her skin and she had a skin burn on her paw. Also, one nail on each front paw was untrimmed. The price? I had no idea that asking for her paw hair to be trimmed would be an added charge but this "nail trim" cost $49.09!

  My 14 year old dog normally LOVES getting groomed. We've gone here 3 times, and each time he is terrified and desperate to leave by the end. This is also the ONLY Petco location or Pet salon where I'm told he has trouble with getting his nails dremmeled. And this last time for some reason they didn't even let me see my dog till i'd finished paying, which has never happened before, and frankly was uncomfortable. We will not be going back, he's too old to be this stressed and there's plenty of other groomers in Seattle with comparable prices/services.
