Switched to this location after our beloved Carcreek one closed. I unfortunately don’t think we will be back. Extremely disorganized and no one seems to communicate with anyone. We dropped our dog off at 11:30, asked for a nail trail, his comprehensive exam, and a few other issues. For one getting anyone on the phone here is impossible, when you do get through you are placed on long hold periods. Had not heard anything all day so called around 4:30. Spoke with the vet who informed me she couldn’t really tell us what was wrong with our dogs eye because he wouldn’t sit still. He’s part husky so I understand he can be difficult, but you all are the professionals so figure it out? Why was nothing given to him to help settle him so his exam could have been done properly. Was told she isn’t sure if he contacted pink eye or has a scratch on his eye. Scratch on his eye seems like a serious issue. She prescribed eye drops and that’s it. Well if it’s a scratch how are drops for pink eye going to help that? I asked if they were able to trim his nails as we requested “oh no sorry that was not placed on the order and I don’t know if we can!” Again you had him all day a calmer could have been given to him at 11:30. Asked about a medication we needed same thing “was not placed on the order!” Go to pick him up and the medication was still NOT added. So now we have a dog with an eye issue and still have no idea what the diagnosis is. Do better.

The team have been excellent helping us navigate complex situations. Our dog loves seeing them and we appreciate all their help across multiple appointments. We have a healthy, happy pup because of their support.

Conclusion: appalled by the direct decision on diagnostic services without seeing the vet first, a business oriented push first. Summary of event: My cat was under breathing distress. I was relieved to find an appointment available at Banfield Ballard, who to my surprise was open on Sundays! My cat was previously seen the week before at Animal Medical Center, an emergency vet clinic, for the same health condition. The clinical summary was sent over to Banfield Ballard before my appointment. Intake by the veterinary assistant was routine until she presented me with the diagnostic choices and asked me if I would like to proceed with any of them. Wow! I was taken back by this immediate decision to diagnostic tests. I asked her if the vet would still be coming in to look at my cat and she said yes. The vet tech replied that based on the previous clinical summary that these would be the tests that the vet would recommend. Even if that is the case, why would the vet tech usher in the diagnostic choices without the vet him/herself at least making an examination him/herself, an independent assessment? And is the usual case with Banfield, the vet tech pushed the usual annual pet care plans to offset the immediate costs (but in the long run of one year, you pay more). The vet came in and did her examination and provided some reasons of what could be going on with my cat and of course explained the diagnostic tests. This should be the process to provide the owner confidence, not the initial vet tech pushing a money-making approach. When privately discussing this with Dr. Robinson, she defensively explained that there was not much she could do and explained that this was the normal approach/ process , offering that she or I could talk to the clinic manager named Darby. Also a side note: the radiographs (x rays) taken by the Banfield Ballard clinic were considered poor by Animal Med Center and retaken at AMC. The initial diagnosis of liquid in the lungs was deemed a misdiagnosis. Darby: you need to re-train your staff of their approach. I am paying for an examination fee to re-assess my pet's condition. It is not about vet time efficiency to go straight to diagnostic testing. Your vet tech should not be offering the diagnostic choices and asking me to decide without the vet examination.
