Jeremy worked with my new pup for puppy playtime and when Ratchet was the only pupil, took the time to teach a new skill to him. This is definitely a big help since Ratchet is a service dog trainee. Also, I had questions about some products and Steve was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the items I was looking for at the time. I will be returning to this location because the customer service is always above and beyond.

The cashier was friendly and helpful. But the real joy was in a customer in the cat section where I was looking for new toys for my cat. He recommended a simple wire toy with little pieces of cardboard on it. She usually gets bored with a toy quickly, but so far she really goes after this one. I think it is a good reflection on the store that even the customers are helpful.

this review applies for all petcos and petsmarts and not targeted at any one employee in particular because i am aware they are all just trying to do their jobs. this is specifically targeted at the owners and managers who are responsible for training their employees and setting up their enclosures the way they do. i am a very experienced and knowledgeable pet owner having owned dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, snakes, spiders, frogs, fish, and that’s only to name a few of them and i can confidently say do NOT give these stores a cent of your money if you care about the animals in there. their staff are either not trained on how to properly care for them, or simply just don’t care and i can’t tell which is worse. for one example, they keep their betta fish in tiny plastic cups with fin rot and absolutely no room to swim around. i have seen them keep hamsters in groups together just like they do with the bearded dragons and leopard geckos despite all of these animals being strictly solitary. their motivation for this? more money! their reptiles will all only have one tiny sad little hide and absolutely nothing else. their hognose? just straight aspen shavings and nowhere for him to hide or feel safe. Their tarantulas are also kept in the tiniest of enclosures because the workers or mangers (whoever is in charge of this) are simply too lazy to set up a proper enclosure for them. they then never even attempt to educate their customers on how to properly care for the animal, they just send them home to their forever doom simply for the goal of money. it’s absolutely disgusting. i don’t care if it’s a tarantula, hamster, fish, lizard, bird, THEY ARE ALL LIVING CREATURES AND DESERVE TO BE TREATED AS SUCH. not just some merchandise for you to make a profit off of and any good pet parent knows that that pets are NOT disposable and/or replaceable, they are family. and psa to anyone reading this, you should ALWAYS do extensive research before purchasing any animal regardless, but especially don’t rely on these box stores to educate you because they will not and simply do not care.
