I had a very disappointing experience with this Banfield location. I brought my dog in for allergy and ear issues. During our first visit, the veterinarian insisted that my dog needed an expensive anti-itch injection that cost around $200. Later, when we visited another Banfield location for a second opinion, their veterinarian told us that a much less expensive allergy medication (about $27) could have been tried first before jumping straight to the costly injection. The ear treatment was even more frustrating. We were told that an examination was required before they could prescribe medication, and when I asked whether it would be the same medication my dog had received before, I was told it would be different. After paying approximately $280, we discovered that it was actually the exact same medication that had been prescribed previously. At our second Banfield location, the veterinarian cleaned my dog’s ears, provided ear medication, and prescribed allergy medication, all for about $200 total. They did not charge us an additional examination fee just to continue treatment. What concerns me most is the lack of guidance we received. My dog’s allergy symptoms showed little to no improvement, yet no one discussed potential causes, dietary changes, or other management options. For example, no one suggested trying a different protein source or eliminating chicken from his diet to see whether food allergies might be contributing to the problem. And it charge additional cost for services included in Wellness plan. They said my 50 lb golden retriever is overweight and charge me more. The experience felt more focused on charging for visits, tests, and medications than on helping us find a long-term solution for our dog’s condition. I expected better communication, better follow-up, and more thoughtful care. Unfortunately, this location left me feeling that my concerns were not taken seriously and that unnecessary costs were prioritized over effective treatment.
