  I have used the Vetco services at the Sterling Petco several times with no problem. But I had a horrible experience recently. We had to wait for almost an hour even though we had an appointment not because they were overly busy but simply simply because the staff were moving at a sloth’s pace. But the icing on the cake for me was how unprofessional and seemingly untrained the vet and her assistant were! I have two dogs that both needed heartworm tests. Neither the vet nor her assistant seemed to know how to properly restrain a dog to draw blood or just handle an animal in general in a veterinary setting. One of my dogs is very large. He is friendly but even a friendly dog could have a negative reaction in an environment with so many sensory triggers. Everything is done in the open at the front corner of the store. I was a vet assistant for many years and the way my both of my dogs were handled shows a serious lack of training. While my dogs did not bite or snap they did both did abruptly whip their heads around in a way that expressed their anxiousness. I will no longer use Vetco for services and I encourage them to better train their staff for everyone’s safety.

  I'm glad to have been able to get the 3-year rabies vaccine for our cats, and at very short notice. The online scheduling flexibility was essential, since there was a wreck on 66 (as we headed out!), which meant re-routing and potentially adding to trip time. I think were told - incorrectly, though - that the 3-yr Vanguard vaccine used *wasn't* adjuvanted, since only the Purevax is truly non-adjuvanted. However, time was of the essence; and it's better for us to get our semi-feral vaccinated as infrequenlty as possible as he's difficult to corral in a carrier. Good job to the vet and vet tech, too, for working with a cat that can't have eye contact...and believing us when we said 'cover his head and he'll be ok." Vetco clinics are a good choice when we need vaccinations, but can't wait for the regular vet to have appointment availability.

  The doctor and staff are lovely. I had a 4:40pm appointment and was not seen until 5:10pm. Other than that I enjoy visiting with the other pet owners. The doctor is wonderful- very personable and thorough.
