I have been a customer at this store for a long time and have visited many times. Even though I don’t personally own pets, I often buy pet food and supplies here as gifts for friends and their animals. Recently, I came in to buy a fish as a birthday gift for a friend’s young son. The employee and manager asked me many questions about the fish and the aquarium setup. I honestly explained that it was a gift, so I didn’t know the answers. Instead of helping me or offering guidance, they refused to sell me any fish simply because I couldn’t answer their questions. The little boy was heartbroken and cried because I had promised him a fish for his birthday, and this was the only opportunity I had to buy one before going to work. I understand that animal welfare is important, but customer service is equally important. There should have been a better way to assist me instead of refusing the sale without offering any solution. As a business owner myself, I believe customers should always be treated with respect and kindness. I hope corporate provides better training so employees can educate customers and find solutions instead of making them feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing.
