  RUN AWAY FROM BANFIELD! About four weeks ago, I visited the Petsmart location in Sterling, VA. I scheduled an in room visit through the website. It is very important that I stay with my dog as much as possible because he is terrified when he visits the vet. The purpose of the visit was to have his eye checked because we noticed a large bump. I arrived and waited 20 minutes, then someone came to take my dog to the back. I wait another 20 minutes when the person at the desk tells me I can leave because it will be an hour or two before my dog is finished. I told them that I had booked an in room visit and I need to wait with him. When I scheduled on the website it clearly said in room visit. They told me that there’s a problem with the website and they only offer in room visits at certain times. So I left because I didn’t want to leave my dog in the back alone for an hour or more. Subsequently, I took my dog to the Sterling Town Center office to have the bump on his eye looked at. The vet I saw acted very tentative like he was afraid to approach my dog. He took a cursory look at his eye, didn’t even touch my dog, and said it was a stye. He prescribed antibiotics and an eye ointment which both had no effect. The bump kept growing so I took him to Countryside Veterinary Care where they said it was not a stye and likely some kind of growth. They referred us to a veterinary ophthalmologist. Long story short, the bump was an aggressive tumor that needed to be surgically removed. Today, I tried to visit this Petsmart location again for a simple annual check-up. I again scheduled an in-room appointment through the website. This time I called to verify that it would be in fact an in-room appointment. After a few minutes wait, a tech comes out to again take my dog to the back. I said no. I scheduled an in-room appointment and this time I also called to verify that it would indeed be an in-room appointment. Again, they blamed the website. I walked out in disgust. Between horrible customer service at the Petsmart location and an incompetent vet at the Sterling Town Center Office, I wouldn’t trust Banfield to give my dog a bath let alone provide essential healthcare.

  Our dog shadow was brought to Banfield after being attacked by two off dog. The entire team was compassionate professional, and acted quickly to treat his injuries. They kept us informed throughout the process and took excellent care of him. We are truly grateful for their kindness and deduction during such a stressful time Thank you for taking such great care of shadow.

  Least helpful Banfield, hold for an extended period of time just to be told my dog cared for at another Banfield location cannot have medication dispensed at another Banfield location. Regardless if my dog had been there within 6 months her prescription was valid and I don’t see why forcing her to discontinue use is helpful in any capacity while I wait for my preferred location to receive their shipment.

  I love bringing my 2 babies to this location as Dr.Ferguson is always so kind and very detailed when it comes to addressing any concerns. One of them is extra nervous while the other one is super friendly and they both feel very comfortable with her.
