The vet tech and doctor greeted us and patiently answered all questions and concerns the day of drop off. They made contact after the radioiodine treatment and later to let me know how she was doing, responding and reacting to their caretaking. (And they DO love your babies). All phone calls were polite, professional and helpful. For what had to be chosen for treatment options, I'm very happy from first contact when comparing locations, to the return of my baby girl. (Other place did not return call. I called back after 48 hours, they passed me to someone who couldn't answer my initial basic questions about cost and what to expect. I DID like how Radiocat worked with my vet to prepare my cat for treatment. The other place wanted to have a consultation with my cat to determine if she was a candidate for treatment, and other visits prior to the event vs having our local/ personal vet complete the work up required/ requested. Less days off work and the price came out a smidgen less than the other price given up front. (I ended up required to get an echocardiogram bringing it closer to the other places given more expensive price up front. ) Time will tell how the treatment worked, but this is the best place to have i131 done, hands down.
Very poor experience! Told me my 13 year old cat was dosed at max dosage and would most likely need to be dosed again. I was very uncomfortable with this, and was also concerned about her renal function. My cat was given to me with the same towel I was asked to provide to comfort her. When I questioned it, they said” oh it’s ok, it’s not radioactive, we never put the towel in with her”… so what do I actually believe?
They told me my cat was eating and drinking fine… yea, right! She didn’t eat at home for 2 days until i started mirtazapine. But boy was she released on time bevause her levels were fine. I now don’t believe a word that was said to me.
The renal failure was evident with the first set of labs. Now about 9 months later, she is also hypothyroid and radiocat recomends thyroid replacement.
This place is run like a puppy milll-. Pay more and go somewhere that will dose and monitor your cat appropriately.
Really appreciated that Radiocat was able to successfully treat my cat's hyperthyroidism last year, the I-131 treatment probably saved his life since he was not tolerating methimazole at higher doses due to very severe pruritis that made him scratch big raw bloody patches on his neck. The coordination and timing of everything was a little bit overwhelming for me, especially with the emotional stress of seeing your cat unwell, but Christin was so helpful in coordinating the process and providing information, and Melissa did a wonderful job monitoring and caring for my cat during the treatment and providing updates. I felt like I was in very capable, caring hands from start to finish. It's been about 7 months since the treatment, and my cat's latest T4 is 2.8, down from a pre-treatment baseline of over 20, and he went from a low of 8 lbs to 12 lbs (he''s a tiny bit chonky, but at least he's not wasting away like before). I am so thankful Radiocat is here in this area and was able to cure my cat, they probably gave me many more years with my little buddy so the treatment was well worth it.

Amazing hospital, the staff there took care of everything for my cat's radiation treatment. Staff can be a little hard to reach initially when trying to book treatment, but once you do get in touch, they are super responsive, especially via email. Staff is very friendly and can answer any questions you may have about treatment for your kitty; they'll walk you through the process, and provide phone updates post-treatment. Not many animal hospitals seem to be able to provide i-131 treatment in the NoVA area, so if your cat needs this, this is the hospital to bring them to. Pricing is also reasonable. Thank you Radiocat for taking care of my fur baby!

We took our 11-year-old cat, Cagney, to Radiocat for a radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism. I was quickly contacted by Christin when I reached out to Radiocat, and she was understanding of my concerns and quickly answered all of my questions…crazy as some may have been. Christin reassured me that they would take great care of our fur baby. I dropped Cagney off to Melissa, the technician, and she was so kind and genuine. She could tell how upset I was about leaving Cagney for four days, and she was very reassuring that she would be in good hands. Melissa called me each afternoon to provide an update on how our girl was doing. During Cagney’s stay, Melissa recognized how shy and scared she was so she put a box in her kennel for her to hide behind. This was very comforting about how much attention they paid to Cagney and her reactions to her surroundings. I’m confident Melissa gave all the pets in her care this kind of attention. The hardest part, once we got her home, was locking her out of the bedroom for two weeks, but her outgoing personality quickly returned, and she began to put weight back on. Cagney just had her two-month checkup, and her numbers are all back to normal, and she’s been given a clean bill of health. We are forever grateful to Radiocat, Christin and Melissa for taking care of our girl! I would highly recommend Radiocat in Springfield, VA.
