  My dog had an appointment in June 2026. We arrived was put in a room and I told the veterinarian that my dog had anxiety mind you it was the first time we ever visit that animal hospital. She asked me did he Bite, I said no she said she couldn’t see him today because of his anxiety she gave me about 10 pills told me to give him three the night before two the morning of the appointment the only time she touched my dog, she laid her stethoscope on his chest. They were supposed to be a free first time exam and they used that. so when I arrive 2 1/2 months later and gave my dog, the medication walked up to the counter and the young lady at the counter said I will have to pay $79 to be seen by the vet. I explained to her that my dog didn’t receive any type of evaluation or hands-on exam. She talked to the veterinarian and the Vet stated that she evaluated my dog but really when I was there, I evaluated him so I will not be visiting that animal hospital ever again and I advise whoever goes that you ask for all the rules and regulations concerning the finances and what they’re gonna do to your animal they’re all out for money. there are walk-up clinics in Richmond, Virginia that will cut the price by 60% unless your dog is really really sick but for vaccines and regular exam it’ll be less than 60% of the cost do your research before going to this vet hospital vet hospital and any other.

  I used broad st vet for about 6 month prior to moving, I will say the care is good there. Do not get me wrong it is. But their communication and inability to return phone calls or follow through on providing records after saying they will twice is subpar. I moved from Richmond to SWVA to a really small town in the mountains. My cat has a seizure disorder and takes keppra twice a day for it. Broad st has provided the prescription to my pharmacy for almost a year now after moving and there has never been an issue. Recently I called in the have them send the prescription over as I usually do every three months and suddenly they tell me they no longer do this and only fill in house, now from there reasoning to patients it is a convenience to do this, but real reasoning is profit. I asked the lady on the phone if there was any chance they could send in one last prescription and send me my cats records to my email while I try to get an appointment with the one vet close to me which is about 35 to 40 minutes away. In the next county over, and she said she would speak with the doctor to see if they could and call me back. Well about 3 hours went by and I hadn’t heard anything nor gotten the records I requested. So I called them back asked again and asked for the records and she said she didn’t speak to the doc and she would very shortly and then another two hours went by. So I called again, still had not spoken to the doc and placed me on a 20 minute hold to go ask finally and got it approved and I then asked for records again. Here I am two days later, I got the meds and still no records. This wouldn’t have been issue if they had communicated with me this was going to be implemented and they would no longer be calling in prescriptions to other pharmacies. I highly suggest working on communicating to your patients about coming changes to things and making sure we know.

  If you are looking for a veterinary hospital - this is the place to go for sure! We feel very lucky to have been able to find this place to take our senior cats. They have been incredibly professional, kind, considerate, reasonable, and compassionate. I’ve never had a vet that really checks all the boxes for me and they do it here. Thankful they are here for our family! 🐈🤍🐈‍⬛

  Staff is thoughtful and accommodating. Prices are vet prices but they w your budget, given the times we're in
