I really hate to make this post but I feel like I should. I went in today to pick up a glofish cory catfish. The young man who was waiting on me was very friendly and while he was getting my fish I was looking at the other fish. I saw a red flame gourami dead in a tank floating and the other fish were eating it. I informed a female employee that came over and she was annoyed and tried to say he was being treated...ummm you can't treat dead. She just turned off the tank light instead of removing it. Then I continued to look at the goldfish and I came across a tank that hand maybe 20 dead goldfish lying in the back of the tank and I bent down to look closer and I noticed at the top back corner of the tank I assume is the filter were maybe 10 to 20 goldfish dead and stuck to the filter. You know I understand fish die and if employees are busy and can't get to it right away but they had no customers at the time I was in there and I saw at least 6 employees which is unusual for that store. Someone could have taken the time to at least take out all the dead fish from the tanks, I mean they weren't exactly doing anything else. Most of the time they seem to be bored and hate being there. I get it but come on. You are there with no customers and so many dead fish Just polluting the tanks and the other fish. It just takes one employee to go through with a net. I know they are just fish but come on, Its still a living thing. I really dont want to be that person but its absolute incompetence. Do better Petco.

This store has gotten sadder every time I’ve come in to the point where it now it looks like Armageddon with unstocked shelves, unloaded boxes, definitely unhappy staff who do not care about anything that’s going on there. Sad to say PetSmart has won me over on all of those categories.

Went in for canned dog food and spent a lot of time talking with an associate about the different varieties and possibilities. He was very helpful.

I’ve been a loyal Petco customer since moving to the Richmond area, but after today’s experience at the Westchester Commons location in Midlothian, I won’t be returning. When I found several of my dogs’ favorite stuffed toys in a clearly marked clearance bin near the front of the store, I decided to purchase four of them. At checkout, the cashier noticed they rang up at full price. I politely asked if the clearance price could be honored since the toys were displayed in the clearance bin. The cashier was courteous and went to get the store manager, Alex, since he didn’t have the authority to make that decision. Unfortunately, that’s when the experience went downhill. Alex immediately told me he could not honor the price and claimed a customer must have placed the toys in the clearance bin. When I asked to speak with the General Manager, he responded, “I am the General Manager,” in a dismissive and unprofessional manner. I then asked for the District Manager’s contact information and was simply told to “look it up online.” As someone with 14 years of retail management experience, I understand that merchandise can occasionally end up in the wrong place. The issue wasn’t the mistake—it was how the situation was handled. Customer service is about finding solutions and treating people with respect. Only after I asked if I could contact corporate while standing at the register did Alex decide to honor the clearance price. Even then, the interaction remained cold and unprofessional. This review isn’t about saving a few dollars. It’s about the complete lack of professionalism and customer service from the store manager.
