Will tell you things over the phone and then say it’s against company policy once they have you in the room. Awful table side manner. Should be embarrassed to call themselves vets.

⭐ 1-Star Review I am extremely disappointed and concerned about my experience with Banfield Pet Hospital inside PetSmart in Leesburg, VA. My 9-month-old kitten, Thomas, went to this location for a routine neutering procedure. Before his appointment, I specifically asked about his carrier and was told that a larger carrier was unnecessary because he would not be kept in it. When I picked Thomas up after surgery, I discovered that he had apparently remained in the small carrier I had brought him in. When we got home, he was covered in urine and feces, including around the area where he had just been neutered. I have photographs documenting his condition. What happened afterward was even more upsetting. Thomas had always been an extremely affectionate, social, and gentle kitten. He had never displayed aggression toward my children or our family. After the procedure, his behavior changed dramatically. He bit my 8-year-old son and then, the following day, attacked my leg while I was calmly petting him, causing approximately 12 puncture wounds. The bite became severely infected and I required medical treatment. Because I have three young children, including a one-year-old, Animal Control ultimately had to remove Thomas from my home because of the safety concern. I have contacted the Leesburg location multiple times and requested that the circumstances be investigated and that the surveillance footage from Thomas’s visit be reviewed and preserved. I was told that the matter would be escalated to Loss Prevention and that someone from corporate would contact me. I have still not received the communication I was promised. I am also being charged again for Thomas despite no longer having him in my home as a result of this situation. I understand that veterinary services were provided and I am not saying that legitimate services should simply be ignored. My concern is the care Thomas received, the condition he was returned to me in, the dramatic behavioral change afterward, the injuries that resulted, and the lack of meaningful communication from the location. I am sharing this review because I believe other pet owners should be aware of my experience. I strongly encourage anyone considering this location to ask questions about how their pet will be housed and monitored before and after a procedure. I am still requesting answers and a proper investigation from Banfield Corporate. I’d like to add that this incident was 6 weeks ago and i refrained from posting a review in hope of acknowledgment which I have yet to receive. Also adding that this Banfield the day of surgery try to charge me for services I never requested stating it was a mandatory charge I had to push for the receptionist to provide an explanation.

My dog died of cancer because Banfield said he A”might have it”. All they recommended was go to the hospital after 7 months later when he was dying. We just put him down, but if they would have told us to do an ultrasound to see how bad it was , we would have probably saved him. They just said give him IV and oxygen and he would be fine. These guys don’t know what they’re doing. Stay away from them.

Banfield’s overall customer service has really stepped up its game, and I especially wanted to recognize Alicia and Dr. Turner for the amazing care and service they provided. Alicia and the staff went above and beyond during a company wide IT outage. Even with their systems down, they still helped get Lulu an appointment, scheduled her follow up, kept track of everything using a personal notebook, and called me back afterward to confirm all the details. That level of effort and follow through really stood out to me. Dr. Turner was also fantastic. She communicated clearly, took the time to explain what was going on, answer questions, and put together an effective treatment plan for Lulu. Since starting that plan, we have seen remarkable improvements in her health and quality of life. No one really expects or plans for all the issues that can come up as their dog gets older, so it has been a huge relief knowing I can get Lulu in front of knowledgeable and compassionate staff who genuinely seem invested in helping her feel better. I really appreciate the care, communication, and extra effort the entire team has shown us.
