Gastrointestinal illness diagnosis and treatment

Gastrointestinal illness treatment at Banfield Pet Hospital® starts with identifying the underlying cause – which can range from dietary issues to infections – and then providing appropriate therapy such as diet changes, fluid therapy, or medication.

General surgery

Surgery is a broad category in veterinary medicine. At Banfield Pet Hospital ®, surgeries may include routine spaying and neutering to common operations, performed to address health issues or injuries in animals.

**Do not take your pets here if you are looking for quality independent care** I have been using Banfield for quite a bit and have never been greatly satisfied with their services, but truly have hit my breaking point with this location. We unfortunately lost two animals over the past year, and their end of life services were pretty poor. For example, we were yelled at to go into one of the rooms upon arriving to put down our dog. We also did not receive everything we requested (missing a clay dog paw) after putting him down. End of life care is really hard to go through, and unfortunately their staff did not make it any easier. And do not get me started on having to pay for the wellness plans even after your pet passes. For regular care, the most recent service this past week finally was my last straw. My dog was seen for a basic wellness visit, nail trim, and a vaccine. He was at the clinic from 9 am to 5:20 pm and I had to reach out several times to get updates. I called around 12 and was told he was being seen then. At 3, I called again as I still had no update. After being put on hold for 30 minutes, a nurse picked up and was very rude about my dogs health, including cutting me off as I was explaining what we had been doing for his care. She ended the conversation by saying she was going to chat with the doctor and call me back. At 5 pm, I still had not heard back so my partner called and they let us know that my dog had been ready for quite some time. Upon pickup, the same nurse continued to be quite rude in person. During the visit, they had not administered his preventative medicine and asked for us to complete it with no medication instructions on how to do so. Lastly, I never even spoke to the vet about his care that day. They are so poorly managed and provide little to no communication on ongoing care for pets. If you are looking to send your pets somewhere that they will be treated like a family member with a doctor, this is not the place. We will no longer be using this location and will be looking for other vet services moving forward. Our pets mean a lot to us, but unfortunately not enough to them.

We’ve being going to Banfield Short Pump for over a year, we have a wellness plan with them for our senior dog and we can’t be thankful enough on how they’ve handled every challenge our senior dog has had. Almost every time we need to take her, even late notice, they’re available, if not, they’ll give us options on how to care for our dog.

Great staff and my 2 hound dogs love them! Plus I love the convenience of knowing that no matter where I am, my fur babies's records and care plans are always near by.
