  On July 28, 2026, at approximately 3:40 PM, I visited the Annandale Petco and experienced the most humiliating customer service I have ever received. I urgently needed to use the restroom, so I politely asked an employee, “May I please use the restroom?” Instead of showing even the slightest bit of courtesy or empathy, a bearded employee wearing glasses immediately responded with a cold “No.” He then told me, “This is not a public restroom. Go to Taco Bell or Safeway,” as if I were someone who didn’t belong there. Another employee standing nearby simply watched and said nothing. I have been a Petco customer and a pet owner for over 45 years, and I have visited many Petco stores over the decades. Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect. If the restroom is for employees only, that’s your policy, and I can accept that. What I cannot accept is the complete lack of basic human decency. A simple, respectful response such as, “I’m sorry, our restroom is for employees only,” would have been enough. Instead, I was made to feel unwelcome and embarrassed. The condition of the store also reflected that same lack of professionalism. Merchandise was disorganized, items were not where they belonged, and the overall appearance of the store was poorly maintained. After my experience, I couldn’t help but wonder if the attitude of the staff is part of the reason. Petco should be a place where people who love animals also treat people with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at this location. As of today, Annandale Petco has lost me as a customer forever. I will never return, and I hope management seriously reviews the behavior and customer service standards of its employees. Goodbye, Annandale Petco.
