Selection of dog toys is very minimal. I buy some of the same brands and those are always sold out and the selections are getting smaller every time I go. Also the bird seeds I like are not sold anymore. The only thing they carry for canaries has added dyes and chemicals in it. The selection of bird toys and treats is also becoming smaller. I am not sure what they are doing but other pet stores are going to be earning my business from now on.

I've taken my dog here twice for grooming. Both times I have paid for extras-nail clipping, teeth brushing etc. Both times shes come home nails not trimmed, no way for me to tell if her teeth were brushed, obviously, but since her nails weren't done im not sure i trust any of the extras got done. Its 94.00 everytime I bring her in and its disappointing its happened twice now. I called and left a message but haven't heard back.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing budgies from this Petco location. This was my first time ever owning a bird. When I purchased my first budgie, I specifically asked the cashier whether the food and supplies I was purchasing were appropriate and whether I had everything my bird needed. I was told that everything looked great. Only THREE DAYS after I brought him home, he died. I was super bummed out! I had really loved having him, and because I had gotten him to be a class pet for my preschool classroom, I still wanted to try to make it work. However, after losing my first bird so quickly, I was already very cautious about getting another bird from Petco. I was worried that maybe the first bird had been sick or that something was wrong, and I didn’t want to go through the same thing again. When I spoke with the manager after the first bird died, I was told that if I got another bird and something happened again, I could bring that bird back too. That reassurance was part of the reason I felt comfortable enough to try again. So I traded the first bird in for another budgie from the same store. I used the same cage, but only after doing an extremely thorough cleaning and sanitizing job. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happened. The second bird died THREE DAYS after I brought him home. This time, the bird died in my classroom with a room full of four-year-olds. I had to tell these little kids that their class pet was taking a really long nap because I didn’t know how else to explain to them what had happened. Both birds had shown signs that concerned me before they died, including staining/soiling around their bums. Both birds also appeared active and seemed okay shortly before suddenly becoming extremely sick and dying. After the second bird died, I brought the cage back to the store because I genuinely wanted to know if I had done something wrong. I wasn’t looking to blame anyone. I wanted answers. I was already worried that maybe I had somehow failed these birds, and I wanted someone who knew what they were doing to look at the cage and supplies and help me understand what happened. I also brought the second bird back because I had been told after the first bird died that I could return the replacement bird if something happened again. However, when I actually brought the second bird back, the manager changed his mind and told me that I could not return him for a cash refund. That was incredibly frustrating and upsetting, especially because I had specifically been reassured about this before I agreed to try another bird. I was then told that the problem was the food I had purchased. I was told that the food I had been sold was for cockatiels, not parakeets. I checked the food when I got home, and it was in fact labeled for parakeets. I went back to the store and pointed this out. That same food had been taken off the shelves within the week. The employee acknowledged that I was correct, but then the explanation changed to saying that it still wasn’t the same food the store uses. This is incredibly frustrating because I specifically asked an employee BEFORE purchasing my first bird whether I had everything I needed and whether the food and supplies were appropriate. I trusted the advice I was given. I was also only offered store credit rather than a refund and I really never want to shop there again. I want to be very clear that I am not claiming to know exactly what caused these birds to die. I don’t. That’s the point. Two birds from the same store dying within three days of coming home should warrant more investigation than simply blaming the customer for purchasing the food that the store itself sold me. I loved these little birds and did everything I knew to do to take care of them. I was a first-time bird owner, and I specifically asked for help because I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. I really just wish someone had taken my concerns seriously from the beginning.
