  My dog has been with Petco grooming since he was six months old and he is now 9 years old. He has gone in three different cities and we have not had issues, except now twice. Three years ago, he went to a Missouri City Petco and they called within 5-10 minutes stating that he was biting the kennel which caused his gums to bleed and told me my dog (who is literally the sweetest to all dogs and humans; regularly plays at the dog parks) was aggressive. They placed a note that my dog was kennel aggressive and since then groomers would mention it when we went, often asking how he has been since that incident. When they saw that every time after that, he was okay for 3-4 hour grooming (did VIP services maybe 3-4 times total), many groomers would say he did just fine, cried a lot as expected since he does not go in a cage at home, but otherwise was fine. Recently, I went to this Petco (which he has been to multiple times without issues), and the groomer manager mentioned this note that they are seeing in my dogs file about “biting the cage.” Of course, I leave and now within five minutes, I am getting a call to return because my dog is “kennel aggressive, biting the cage and his gums are bleeding.” I assumed with them making it a big deal about this one time occurrence three years ago that he would end up having an issue today. He in fact did, not only did they send him to the vet (who said everything was fine), but also blocked his account from being able to make appointments online without any warning that this would be happening. Since we have been with Petco 9 years, of course I have vital care rewards therefore I can’t just cancel and be done with Petco as I have money rewards that need to be used and one more groom until a free one. Thank God I was able to speak to the Humble Petco who has also groomed my dog many times who stated that they would be happy to see him and thankfully the groomer knew my dog and was excited to groom him. Just save your money and go to a Petco with groomers who care about the dogs and truly build relationships with them. I also let them know the entire story including my frustrations especially with this only being the second occurrence of my dog biting the cage and gums bleeding in nine years of coming here. They were very sweet and gentle, great customer service unlike this Pearland location, who did not listen to any of my concerns or the previous history that I tried to explain. We will get his last two grooms at Humble (where we used to live) and be leaving Petco for good due to the recent interactions. If you are sticking with Petco, try a different location if you want your dog to be loved and cared for, especially if you have a dog like mine who just needs to extra loved due to anxiety in the cage. Humble and Clear Lake are both awesome locations. This one just shows that they are in a rush and do not genuinely care for the dogs or their parents.

  It was a busy day but the grooming staff was very professional and friendly. Roxie went in for a nail trim and the groomer was very friendly and we were happy with the service.

  If the groomers tell you that you have to sedate your dog with an rx from the vet RUN from this place. I had nothing but bad experiences here the last 2 times , 45 min grooms became 4 hour grooms. Of course any dog will act out. I recently took my dog to a mom and pops groomer and they never ever mentioned I had to sedate my pet and the service was quick and efficient. If this doesn’t tell you this place is the problem then I don’t what it is.

  My dogs were way overdue for a grooming and the groomers were very patient with them and did a wonderful job.
