Took my Weimaraner in for a scratched cornea, because she likes to dive into the cedar to chase rabbits. The staff was very friendly and did a thorough exam on a Sunday. The offices were clean and I felt their pricing was reasonable for a weekend. Definately recommend them.

Visited because my dog ran away and came back with puncture wound. Dr. Chapa was extremely thorough in her assessment and over-all care. She kept me updated throughout the day and took her time when explaining post-operative care. I felt confident my pet was going to be alright when I took him home. Thank you Dr. Chapa and her team!! đź©·

So happy this vet opened near our home! We took our puppy to a vet a little farther up the road, when we first got her, but you could tell, she was not happy to go into that place and was nervous the whole time. Our place we use for "doggy day care" recommended this place, as our other vet did not offer the "Influenza" shot our dog needed for the "doggy day care". It is a "two-shot" process, so we brought her in her in for her first initial shot and we could tell her demeanor was great! She did have her tail down, but not "between her legs" like the other place. They were so nice to her, and we were in and out quickly. The second time we went for her follow up shot, we had to wait a little longer, and we had a question for a the vet, so we waited a little longer. Again, our puppy was so comfortable in their waiting area! The ladies behind the desk just loved her, and even came out and tried to pet her (she was a little bit shy with them). But, once we met Dr. Chapa and her assistant in the exam room they were soo great. Again, our puppy was a little nervous, but both ladies were sooo nice to her. They got down on the ground with her, and petted her while we told the vet of our concerns. Dr. Chapa was very compassionate, and great with her. When she administered her shot, our puppy did great! We are now making them our permanent vet! I would recommend them to anyone in the area!!

Huge thank you to Dr. Wilson and the amazing staff! They handled a serious bladder stone surgery for my Jasmine with so much skill and compassion. The follow-up care has been wonderful—they truly go above and beyond for their patients. We are so grateful to have such a great team looking after her. I’m blown away by the kindness this team has shown us.

This is not the first time this has happened, but I do not have enough staff/vets there. My dog has to take meds to calm her down bc her anxiety is really bad when going to the vet. The vet clinic knows about it bc they prescribed it. The first time they had my dog and me waiting for almost 2 hrs in this little hot room, and when I noticed my dog's anxiety was too much, I left, although we had an appointment. Second time, waited in the car past my appointment called bc they still didn't let me know we were able to come in, and I was told that they had quite a few emergencies coming in. Now, keep in mind this medicine only lasts for a while. Instead of letting me know that I could take a while, so I could have waited to give my dog her meds, I was just waiting and left. I do understand emergencies do come first, but have another vet at least there who can work only on appointments, and one for emergencies. It is not ok for me to give my dog unnessessary this medication if no needed bc they can't communicate.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pointe 183 Animal Hospital & Urgent Care

My pet ate something they weren't supposed to. What should I do?

Inducing vomiting in pets may seem like a quick solution when they ingest foreign objects, but it can sometimes be dangerous. This procedure can lead to trauma or irritation of the esophagus, especially if the ingested material is sharp or includes hazardous items like batteries. It’s crucial to consult your veterinarian immediately if your pet consumes a foreign object. In many cases, we can safely induce vomiting using injectable medication, minimizing the risk of complications such as stomach ulcers. However, there are situations where surgical intervention may be necessary to remove the foreign object. Always prioritize your pet's safety by seeking professional guidance in these scenarios.

Why do you recommend dental cleanings so often?

Dental cleanings are essential for maintaining your pet's overall health and well-being. Starting annual cleanings at a young adult age can significantly help prevent serious medical issues related to dental disease, such as infections and organ damage. Regular dental care not only keeps your pet’s teeth and gums healthy but also saves you money in the long run. By addressing dental issues early, we can avoid complicated and costly extractions down the line. Invest in your pet's health today with routine dental cleanings and ensure they enjoy a happy, healthy life for years to come!
