Let me say, I've been with Banfield for years and continue to be disappointed 😞. I understand that all vet clinics face unpredictable emergencies, but the complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service I experienced today at this Banfield location was unacceptable. My dog suffers from severe cognitive and anxiety disorders, which is why I specifically schedule in-office appointments rather than drop-offs. Because I arrived 9 minutes late, my slot overlapped with an incoming emergency and the next scheduled appointment (20 minutes later mind you). Instead of working with me to find a low-stress alternative for MY pet rather than a "drop off" such as letting us wait in the car, Dr. Fritz's Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) was incredibly dismissive, said ok, walked out, and checked me out. When I approached the front desk receptionist to find a solution, the vet was understandably unavailable due to a surgery. However, when I politely expressed my frustration to the receptionist regarding the LVT's rude and dismissive attitude, the LVT began fussing and complaining within clear earshot of the room my husband, pet, & I were still in. As a paying customer and a dedicated pet owner, I expect a basic level of respect and a team that coordinates with me to protect my dog's mental well-being. Forcing a severely anxious dog into a traumatic drop-off kennel or leaving a client stranded with zero communication is not care. I refused the tech-only exam, chose to leave, and will be taking my business to a clinic that understands patient compassion and professionalism. And of course canceling my wellness plan.

Terrible experience with my sick dog this weekend. Friendly apologetic technician saw our pet. Apologetic because the actual vet insisted they didn't need to see the pet, and didn't have time because they were busy and understaffed. Only after we continued to strongly insist, after it flipped out when he was treated, did the actual vet stop by for a few minutes. Time was taken to try and up sell us into other unrelated treatments - even though they had just had it a few months ago. Checking out and paying was also an adventure. For some reason the swipe on our card didn't work ... yet we were told all was good. They called me at home, rather than walk out to try and catch my wife who was still sitting in the parking lot. . After some time on hold, I was told they can't add new cards to the account. I would need to come back in, or, I had to call their owner/service to have it added. They aren't able to do so.

I took my cat, Anastasia, to see Dr. Myles at Banfield yesterday because she had a piece of stool lodged in her rectum that appeared to be anchored. I was concerned that it might be string or another foreign body, but she was eating normal, not vomiting, and appeared fine otherwise. It was a drop-off appointment, and they were backed up. They called me 20 minutes later and said they were recommending surgery and that I should take her to the emergency vet. I asked whether they had even looked at her yet, only to find out that the vet had not even laid eyes on Anastasia. I asked them to at least evaluate her in case it was something they could handle, as I know how expensive emergency vet visits are and I barely get by on a student stipend. They called again and said that Dr. Myles had assessed her and thought it felt like a hair tie, and that they had no doctors there who knew how to read X-rays, so I needed to take her to the emergency vet for surgery. Well, $800 later, it was determined that she had no blockage, which the emergency vet was able to conclude in under a minute. They also performed an X-ray to confirm it. Now I am out $70 from Banfield just for a vet to lift my cat’s tail and incorrectly assess what should have been a very straightforward issue for a trained professional, plus an additional $800 because of the lack of competence in that assessment. I believe they should refund the Banfield visit and contribute to the emergency room bill, since this situation was completely avoidable and resulted from their error.
