  I have to say my first experience at Vetco was very good. Jada the vet tech was friendly. Dr Medina was professional, courteous, and just full of positive energy. He took the time to address all my questions and was just overall helpful. This will be my new vet and I will bring my other dog here as well for future routine exams. I read all the reviews and noticed a certain vet at this place had several negative reviews so I called in to make sure my visit is not with that doctor. But don’t hesitate to book Dr Medina if you want to give this place a try.

  I’m a first time Kat Lady. Brought my kitten for her first visit, and the vet technician, Claire, was very nice and really took the time to educate me on how to take care of my little one. I was very happy with my first visit.

  Vet techs here are kind and nice I enjoyed their care. Pricing is fair, apts are plentiful. However you can’t pick your Vet it’s just whoever is on. The first time I came I had a good experience. The second time I came I the veterinarian didn’t even introduce herself or even say hi, she just started rudely telling me all the things I was doing wrong taking care of my dog I could barely get a word in :(( of course there’s room for education for every pet parent but there’s ways to deliver information. Bedside manner was not good.

  I brought my French bulldog to this Petco/Vetco because his paws were itchy and he needed help with allergies. The vet techs/nurses were great. They were kind, patient, and helped him calm down when he barked after they knocked on the door. My dog has anxiety at vet visits due to past experiences, but he is sweet, has never bitten anyone, and was doing fine with his toy. The issue started when the actual vet came in. She was immediately rude, aggressive, and confrontational. She did not calmly approach my dog or give him space. She stood directly over him in an aggressive way, which made him bark even more. Instead of understanding that he was nervous, she acted annoyed and judgmental from the start. She questioned me harshly about his heartworm medication, even after I explained I didn’t know the name but could call my regular vet to confirm it. She kept pushing the issue in a very rude tone, even though we were there for an allergy shot. The whole interaction felt more like she wanted to argue than actually help my dog. Then she started making comments about us not having control of our dog, said his toy was just a distraction, and even compared how he should behave to a police dog. That was ridiculous. This is a small French bulldog with anxiety, not an aggressive dog. He did not bite, snap, or do anything dangerous. He barked because she came in with hostile energy and stood over him. We ended up leaving without getting care because the vet was so unprofessional and disrespectful. As we walked out, she continued making comments about how my dog would need to be sedated before being seen. I have never had an experience like this at any vet clinic. The techs/nurses were amazing, but the vet was horrible. Her attitude made it seem like she had no patience or compassion for anxious pets at all. It honestly felt like she did not even like dogs. We took my Frenchie to Central Houston Animal Hospital right after, and the experience was completely different. They gave us way better service, everyone was kind and patient, and my dog was treated with care. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Even if your dog does not bark, I still would not trust this vet based on how she treated us and how she handled the situation.

  Vetco River Oaks has been caring for my four year old Beagle since he was a puppy. They are very responsive and do a good job.
