  I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this Petco grooming location and would not recommend them. I brought my dogs in and was told that a portion of his ear was matted and that if they attempted to cut or shave it, he could develop a hematoma and I may end up having to take him to the emergency room. The way this was communicated felt unnecessarily alarming and made it sound as though something was likely to happen to my dog if they proceeded. When I asked whether they simply did not feel comfortable grooming him, I was met with an attitude and told that it wasn’t about them being uncomfortable. At that point, I decided not to leave my dog there. If the groomers did not want to perform the service or did not feel they could safely handle that small area of his ear, I would have much rather they simply communicated that clearly and professionally instead of making me feel like I was putting my dog at risk by having him groomed. What made the situation even more frustrating is that I have taken my dogs to the Petco location on Kuykendahl when they were more matted than this, and I have always had an excellent experience. The staff there have consistently been kind, professional, helpful, and reassuring. After leaving this location, I called Kuykendahl, explained exactly what had happened, and they were incredibly accommodating. They were able to get my dogs in that same day (today) and schedule their grooming appointment without making me feel fearful or uncomfortable and did an amazing job. I also recently discovered another issue with this location. For months, I had been unable to schedule grooming appointments through the Petco app because I kept receiving an error message. I finally went into this location on FM 1960 and explained the problem. I was told that the app issue had “been happening to everyone.” I later learned from the Kuykendahl location that I had actually been blocked from scheduling grooming appointments through the app. What is especially confusing is that I have never even had my dogs groomed at this location. I have canceled appointments with them in the past because I occasionally confused this location with the Kuykendahl location given that they’re close by but blocking me from booking through the app entirely without ever communicating that to me was incredibly unprofessional and I have NEVER EVEN taken them here. Even worse, when I specifically asked about the error, I was given an explanation that apparently was not true. Thankfully, the staff at Kuykendahl took the time to help me, explain what had happened, and remove the block so I could schedule appointments again. The difference in customer service between these two locations is honestly night and day. I understand that groomers have to make decisions based on an animal’s safety, and I would never expect someone to perform a service they genuinely believe is unsafe. My issue is with the way everything was handled and communicated. There was no need for the attitude, the fear-inducing explanation, or the lack of transparency regarding my account. If this location did not want to groom my dogs, they could have simply said so. Based on my experiences, I will continue taking my dogs to the Kuykendahl location, where the staff have always treated both me and my dogs with kindness and professionalism. I would not recommend the FM 1960 location for grooming.

  This weekend I determined that Petco is no longer a 5 star pet resource. For years I always chose Petco, never Petsmart for my dog grooming and aquatic supplies but the current management seems to be young, untrained, unprofessional and "I don't know" kinda people. They lost the vaccination records that were previously provided almost a year ago which allowed my pet to get grooming services. I took off work and drove from Porter,TX to this location because I am loyal. Never again will Petco receive my support. They suck!
