Banfield Pet Hospital® - Garland provides quality and attentive health and wellness care for dog, cat and small animal pet patients. Our veterinarians and staff are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventive health care with a full-service medical facility offering general services like routine vaccinations, microchipping, dental and surgical care and more. We are accepting new patients now.
I wanted to like this clinic because the wellness plan seems to make care more affordable, but my experiences have been consistently disappointing. Especially over the last 6 months.
The biggest issue is that it is extremely difficult to actually see a veterinarian. I scheduled an appointment online that clearly stated it was an in-room visit. When I arrived, I was told the software was wrong and that I would have to leave my dog instead. If the online scheduling system is inaccurate, it should be corrected rather than expecting clients to accept a completely different appointment than the one they booked.
When I questioned the discrepancy and showed my appointment confirmation, I was not listened to. Instead, I was addressed aggressively by the front desk staff, then a technician, and finally the office manager. I am unsure why they all felt the need to brow beat me as I had accepted the issue after the first time I was spoken to so rudely, I wasn’t happy but I accepted it. Rather than trying to understand the situation or resolve it, each interrupted me before I could finish explaining. It was one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I have had in a veterinary office. Also, the staff needs to understand that they can be heard by their clients in the rooms when they are being spoken about.
Continuity of care is also lacking. We rarely saw the same veterinarian twice, making it difficult to build a relationship or ensure consistent follow-up.
The most concerning issue involved my dog’s ear infection. The prescription instructions did not specify which ear was to be treated. We later found out both ears were infected, requiring another round of antibiotics. This meant additional cost, another visit, and, most importantly, unnecessary discomfort for my dog that may have been avoided with clearer documentation and communication. This is another reason why I do not like to drop my pet off to be treated, yet they seem to be angry when you have an in-room appointment.
My latest appointment l, I was accused of my dog eating part of a beer can. It was actually a Celsius energy drink that was apparently chewed up by the lawn service. It was scary that they found it while doing a back door exam, but made worse by the accusations and the way the piece was shoved in my face and what was said. Even if we did drink, it was unprofessional to accuse and assume. The look we received was very uncomfortable.
Compassion, communication, and attention to detail are just as important as affordability. Unfortunately, those qualities were missing from multiple experiences. I cannot recommend this clinic.

This location is wonderful. We had a poor experience at another location, and the doctor and team here at Garland went out of their way to help us and be incredibly transparent with my dog's care. They stayed late on multiple occasions and made accommodations for us as we navigated a very tough time with our boy's final days. They made the final weeks of his life as good as they could be and we are so grateful. If you have a choice between the multiple DFW locations, come to this one. Hands down the best care we could've asked for.

Dr. Edwards is one of those rare veterinarians who has both exceptional medical expertise and genuine compassion. From the moment we brought my dog in to be fixed, I felt like he was in incredibly safe hands. She took such thoughtful care of him and treated him like he truly mattered, not just as another appointment on the schedule.
What stood out to me most was how much time she spent explaining everything to both me and my mom, especially since my dog was being neutered a little later than most dogs. She walked us through what to expect, answered every question without making us feel rushed, and spoke with a level of understanding that made the whole experience far less stressful. You can tell she understands animals deeply, but she also understands people and the emotions that come with trusting someone with a pet you love like family.
It’s hard to find someone who balances professionalism, intelligence, patience, and warmth so naturally. I left feeling informed, reassured, and genuinely grateful. I would trust Dr. Edwards with my dog again in a heartbeat.

We had 4 pets on plans here for the past 2 years and they used to be decent but recently got terrible. Asked for specific services for our dog who likely has a bowel obstruction to confirm and they refused to do that and charged us $200 for BS and now we're scrambling to find another vet because they are "too full to see him". They will literally turn away your sick pet after providing inadequate care and saying they'd be available for follow up just one day ago. Also un an unrelated issue, they provided blood work for our other dog in advance of her spay surgery and when questioned about whether she was in heat, said she was fine for surgery then refused to do surgery then said we would have to pay for blood work again. Just a money grubbing terrible practice all around; and no amount of convenience makes it worth using them. Cancelling all 4 of our plans with banfield and going literally anywhere else.
Update in response to the owner response: My dog died, I don't think it's possible for you to address my concerns at this point. I hope your profit margins are everything that your private equity ownership is shooting for.
