Store is small and cramped - aisles poorly spaced with feature displays in the middle of aisles. Similar to a junked up dollar general. A culling of product lines or reworking of format would go a long way. Staff is very friendly and supportive. Store is conveniently located.

Experience really depends on your staff. I always come in for aquarium supplies, and the selection is pretty good. I wish some tanks were a bit more ethical, many fish look stressed. Some workers have decent knowledge about aquariums and some should not be giving advice to beginners before they purchase a live animal. I had a experience around 2 weeks ago where one of the staff did not seem like he had any knowledge about fish keeping and it took ages to even scoop up our fish, and did not have clear answers to my question.

I had a very concerning experience at this Petco location during what was supposed to be the start of a 6-week dog training course I had already paid for. Before booking, I was advised that the beginner training class would be appropriate for my puppy, who is almost 17 weeks old, and that he had aged out of puppy training. However, when I arrived, the trainer, Jill Vincent, immediately made it clear she did not think we belonged there. From the moment I walked in, she was extremely rude, dismissive, and condescending. I wasn’t greeted, and instead was looked up and down and asked, “who is this?” in a tone that was completely inappropriate. She went on to say that if “all he knows is sit, then this isn’t the class for him,” and seemed visibly irritated and almost angry that I was there at all. Her behavior was so disrespectful and unwarranted that I had to stop her and tell her directly that I did not appreciate the way she was speaking to me. At that point, the situation had already escalated to the point where the training session never even happened. I stood in the store for about 30 minutes trying to get in touch with the general manager, who was unavailable, and was ultimately given an email address instead. The store manager, Gene, was professional and did issue me a refund for the full 6-week course, which I appreciate. However, a refund does not excuse the way I was treated. If Jill is your assigned trainer, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Based on this experience, I would also encourage others to ask more questions about the training approach and expectations before enrolling. This was incredibly disappointing. No customer should be made to feel disrespected and unwelcome like this.

Sales associate very helpful. Took me to the item I came in for and then checked me out. Great personality. Will be back again.

I have been coming to this location on Custer for several years. I have always had good service and friendly staff. The girl who checked me out yesterday seemed irritated with me after I declined to donate to the rescue animal tab. I always do, this time I paid in cash to avoid being asked again to donate and was still asked to decline the donation. She acted very unhappy with me, enough that I felt the need to tell her I always donate when I come in and have rescue animals at home. We should not feel guilted into donating every single time we come.
