- GLGreg LuskOct 3, 20261.0I scheduled an appointment for my dog at 12:30 PM for a shot and shampoo treatment. However, my dog was not seen and ready for pickup until approximately 6:15 PM—nearly six hours later. When I asked why a treatment that ultimately took only about 10–15 minutes required my dog to remain at the facility for almost six hours, I was told that emergency visits take priority. I completely understand that emergencies can arise and should be prioritized, but I do not understand why a scheduled appointment resulted in such an excessive delay without better communication or an alternative arrangement being offered. What concerns me even more is the condition my dog was in when I picked him up. He had apparently spent several hours confined in a kennel, and when he was returned to me, he smelled strongly of urine. This raises serious concerns for me about the cleanliness of the kennels and the conditions in which animals are being kept while waiting for treatment. I am also concerned about whether he had appropriate access to water during such a lengthy stay. Had I been informed that my dog would be waiting for several hours before receiving a 10–15 minute treatment, I would have preferred to bring him back at a later time rather than have him confined at the facility for most of the day. I am extremely disappointed with this experience. I would appreciate an explanation regarding why my scheduled appointment resulted in an almost six hour stay, what occurred while my dog was waiting, and what procedures are in place to ensure animals are kept in clean and appropriate conditions during extended stays.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.

• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
