  DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! This place is horrible. I have been shopping here for too long. The store manager, Ashley acts like anything you say to her is a huge inconvenience. She needs a big attitude adjustment. All of the good employees are leaving one by one and I overheard another manager JUSTINE say they “only hire employees that don’t know what they’re doing so they can shape them however they want.” REAL GREAT FOR THE ANIMALS!!!! Oh yeah and you can tell they don’t care by the way they keep dead animals next to the sink by the fish tanks. I found a betta fish dead in a cup WITH NO WATER and had to bring it to the cashier to take care of. Store is dirty, the animal enclosures are covered in feces, and they are never stocked but always keep random dolly carts in the aisles to trip over and squeeze around. New employees do not know what they are talking about. I asked for help finding my dog food Natural Balance and they said they did not carry it and told me to go to HEB. They don’t let me stack coupons anymore, one reason i shopped there in the first place. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Place is going downhill fast. Do not recommend this store. Do better PETCO.

  Understaffed. Staff member that was available was incredibly difficult to communicate with. It was like she didn't understand anything I was saying. A good example is when she asked for my enclosure description she replied with "yeah.... ummmm... the thing is these do better in like a shorter wider tank instead of a tall tank" after I had specifically described a terrestrial setup ("shorter wider tank"). I was so confused I couldn't even figure out what I was supposed to say. Common sense says you don't put something that dies when it falls in a tall tank, which is why I was telling her about my terrestrial setup. I got so frustrated trying to communicate with her that after a while I changed my mind completely, it wasn't worth the stress. It's like nothing I was saying was being understood. It was really discouraging seeing that that the staff doesn't understand how to discuss basic husbandry without getting confused. Nice selection though.

  Petco is basically a zoo where the animals are well-behaved and the humans are the ones losing control. I went in for one bag of dog food and somehow ended up emotionally adopting a toy I didn’t need and considering a fish tank I have absolutely no qualifications to maintain. The staff deserves a medal for patience. They answer questions like “Do you think my dog would like this?” with the calm energy of people who have heard every questionable pet-parent idea imaginable. I’m pretty sure they could stop a squirrel from panic-buying treats. Everyone there is friendly, helpful, and dangerously good at convincing you that your pet absolutely needs the premium version of whatever you were already going to buy. Petco doesn’t just sell pet supplies—it gently escorts you into becoming a better, slightly broker, more devoted pet owner. 10/10 would get talked into buying extra treats again.
